Pete, Thanks for your comment about the size of the handles. In all honesty, I didn't want to use the brass nut at the end of the handle so I made the handle long enough to cover the tang without cutting it off. Anything else I did right was just dumb luck!
Norbert, The first thing I did was cover the blade with masking tape for my own protection(two layers works-one doesn't!)then I placed one side of the guard into the slot on the blade and then firmly tapped the other side with a piece of wood till it went on. When I epoxied the wood blank on, I made sure the guard was still in the slots and firmly against the end of the wood.
Chad, I just ordered two more blades and every one at work wants one so this may become a habit. Thanks for the wonderful product and prompt service!
