Got my Fedora..........w/pics
« on: January 05, 2008, 12:53:00 PM »
Well, after the USPS version of "Comedy of Errors" I got my new to me Fedora today. I was a bit hesitant to make the trade, since it was only 52#@28" and I wasn't sure if I would like the grip or not, but after initial testing in the lab, OK it's just a basement, but it is mine   ;)  , it shoots well. The jury is still out on whether or not I like the thumbrest, but the Gabon Ebony riser with bamboo limbs is a striking look.

I may keep it or trade it, but I need to shoot it a bit to make up my mind about it.

It shoots good and looks even better, but I still want a short recurve with the longbow style grip. I have an Appalachian 58" recurve on the way that has the same grip as my longbow and flatbow, so that will be nice. The more I shoot the Fedora, the better the grip feels, other than being a little big through the throat for my hand. But it really shoots fast and hard for such a light draw weight.

Brant,
If I decide to trade it, I'll post it on the Classifieds page, so keep an eye out.

HNH, it's a 56"er. Just short enough to shoot in my groundblinds without hitting a limb and having a little room to move it around for the shot.

That would be a handy length for sure.

It's a beautiful bow. One of these I'd like to own a Fedora. They have "the Look" I like.

Man that is a nice bow! Where can I get one like that LOL.
Glad ya like it Kevin.
It took a little while for the grip to grow on me, the Palmer grip still feels weird after shooting the Fedora for so long.

Trust me...you will love the thumb rest. After awhile, you won't know its there. It will give you positive hand placement every time.

Andy, I know a feller who'll make ya a deal on one   ;)    All ya need is a few Appalachians to trade, lol.

BTW, if any of ya are looking for a good guy to deal with, Martin Guy is your man.

I agree with Joe, I hated the thumbrest on several of the bows I have owned, but the Fedora one is nice. It gives ya positive hand placement and fills my big hand. Shawn
