Trail Cams flash question

Hi have a 35mm trail cam cheapy w regular flash, the film thing and rewind is noisy and eats batteries. Thinking of getting a ditigal now that i have a computer at home. The regular ditigal with regular flash are pretty reasonable at Dicks Sporting Goods clearance 70. The infared quit a bit more 125-200. I like the idea but is it worth hanging a bill and half on the tree. Do the animals avoid trails (no bait) if they are harassed by the flash and is there a big difference in the battery life with digital opposed to 35mm. Subsequently the battery life of regular ditigal flash vs. infared technology. Thanks for your time i hope this is the right place to post this question...David

Yes the flash and noise does bother them,I had a big 10 pt that i got a few picks of 4 days in a row,then no more picks of him on that trail.after hunting that stand he was comming down the trail cutting of about 70 yards and going around my stand.I moved the stand and he is on the wall.135 class.The no flash and no noise of the digital work great.

Thanks, wasnt sure. Made sense in my mind. I had some luck with the 35mm, but usually a hit or two right off the bat then nothing. I figured it was the winding of the film and or the flash. Ill hold off til i can get a digital with infared or a mode to shut off the flash and try for some day or dawn dusk photos. Thanks for the help...David.
