choosing right camera?
« on: February 20, 2010, 10:36:00 AM »
I'm looking at two camera's one is a sony Cyber-shot with 12.1 Mega pixels and 4x optical zoom. it is nice and small for easy carry in shirt pocket or side fany pack pocket. the other is also a sony with 10 mega pixels and a 10x optical zoom. it's a bit larger and would fit easely into side pocket of butt pack. they both take good clear pictures and are around the same price. I'm looking for a recomendation on which one would be better for outdoor shooting, wilderness shots wildlife, ect...

thanks for any recomendations.

The one with the 10x optical zoom. The megapixels isn't gonna matter much when you get beyond 8 megapixels, and with the extra optical zoom it can really brings things closer to you. Just remember, use the image stabilization and buy yourself an extra lithium ion battery.

Oh, and by the way.......the Sony (Zeiss lenses) are the go to lense for the warmer colors, like sunrises and sunsets. Also, when you are at 10x it doesn't hurt to have some GOOD support for your camera as it will show the least little movement at the moment that you snap the picture.

Sony and Canon both make small digital cameras with 20x zoom lenses. For outdoor photos, that is the way I would go. They both also have image stabilization to help in low light or long telephoto shots.
