which vidio camera do i need?

i want a movie camera that i can make disks to sell movies i make. and what do i need to edit it?
adventure magizine published two;
sony hdr-cx520v handycam camcorder at about 900.00.one pound.
panasonic ag-hmc40 at about 1600.00. two pounds.
i know nothing about vidio and need your advice on whatever you think best? thanks, ken

According to CNET reviews, the Panasonic won't be available until sometime in August of this year. I believe that the Sony is available now. If you read all through the hoopla......the concensus seems to be that the Panasonic would be the pick out of those two cameras.

That being said, I own an older Panasonic video camera and it has been a very good camera for what I use it for.

I own a Sony digital camera......an older model, and also a Panasonic digital camera. When it comes to buying cameras of any kind, you get what you pay for in my opinion. There are continuous advancements in the digital world and kinda like a computer.......when you buy one that does what you want it to.......some other manufacturer comes out with one that is comparible and at a lesser price.

Personally, I don't think that you would be unhappy with either a Panasonic, or a Sony. But, if I were choosing between the two that you mentioned.......the Panasonic would win HANDS DOWN.
