I would think you would put them thru the twist of the string and trim them to shape. Have to find some that are stiffer than normal. You would still need to secure them to the string with serving to prevnt them from falling out while the bow was unstrung.

Double the stringwhisker and wrap around the string lengthwise in a circler fashion. Take some #4 serving thread and wrap three of four times around the stringwhisker middle leaving two ends trailing. Take both ends and pull the hard and it will cinch the string down on the rubber. Tie off with a three loop granny not and repeat. When you trim the rubber ends they will make the ball that you are looking for.

What string whacker said, I use single strands from old bow strings cause I kept breaking the thread I had. You have to pull it really tight to get the ball look. Trim to a perfect round shape with small pointed scissors. You can buy round rubber skirt material from fishing lure stores like Janns Netcraft. They have lots of colors and a 1" wide piece 3 ft long only costs like $1.40

Michelle, another way is to double the strips and take a small cable tie, and pull it tight as you can with your hand. then pull it a bit more with pliers. a lot quicker than wrapping with threads and tying. then trim to shape desired.
