Stumbled on this thread accidentally.  Not sure how I missed it, but this youtube video is definitely worth watching in its entirety.

Incredible early footage of Art Young and cameraman Jack Robertson hunting/filming big game in Alaska 1922-1923.  There's no sound, but you don't need it.  The film speaks for itself.  These early American archers were some rugged guys.  Can you imagine being there?  A trip of dreams.

I think everyone has been focused on the threads about the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show being cancelled.

Man I can't wait for the weather to warm back up a bit so I can get back out and shoot my Hill style bows.

Just ordered my first Hill!  My first custom of any kind, actually.  I figured a Hill was appropriate as a first.  Been drooling over them since I started shooting...

Bighorn Sheep, string follow
Texas ebony riser, clear glass
Finished handle (no wrap)
70", 50#@28"

Super stoked.  I've never seen a Bighorn Sheep (4x red elm lams) before.  I asked about it and was told they've made a few, but not many   :)

It's going to be a long 4-5 weeks!

ArrowPlane-

Knowing Craig, you'll probably get the bow in 3 weeks.

I've never seen or shot a Hill bow without the leather grip. I'm interested in hearing how you like the no wrap grip.

BTW-
I've changed my grip several times. I go to Tandy leather, they usually have a bunch of leather pieces in boxes, most of the time they just give it to you. I've found that I like the thin Hill grip with a thick piece of leather. It fit's my palm perfectly.

I ordered it with no grip for that reason.  I want to try it out, and I'd rather do my own anyway.  I make my own quivers and such, so I can put a grip on the match the quiver.

I bet it'll look really sharp without the wrap though.

Just thought id share my experience on the grip, no grip topic. I bought this Hill style Silver Hawk which was a left handed bow, now turned it into a righty or lefty. Needless to say, in order to do it proper, i had to strip and refinish the whole bow. After the transformation, I tried it without the leather grip, and fell in love with the feel of the wood in my hand! I think that for some bows it feels right, and others, not so much.
Congrats on your new Hill, leather or no leather, your gonna love it!   [/IMG]
