HH bug got me ... Part One!

Yes, these bows are fun to get to know.  I've been unable to put my Bama bow down for the last three days.  Got the fever real bad now, and then a couple of my shooting buddies dropped by yesterday, one of whom brought about 5 Hill style bows....all way above my draw weight.  I'm really on the hunt now for a Wesley or Redman in the 45# and 66" range.  Sheesh....this is gonna be bad, I can already tell.

Those arrows won't make it to the woodie love thread as they look to be the new Easton axis traditionals. Very sweet looking arrows indeed, and I would try them but I'm not a fan of the hit inserts.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see some Bemab ICS in traditional though!

Give us the specs of that Big Five and the red man please. What riser woods ?

That's correct, Easton axis.  Spray paint cap dip and paint pen cresting.  Not the most precise way to do it but it works.  I'm not a big fan of the hit inserts but they do fly good.

Big Five is 66"  65@27".  I think the riser is ebony.  Dished grip.

Redman is 66" 52@27".  I think the riser on it is bubinga.  Straight grip.

Brian, I'm thinking of being different, and contemplating the Rhino model hill. I think I asked who on here had one, and I believe I only got one response. Then again, I think the Cougar might be a little better preformance wise. Either one with  brown glass on the back and clear on the belly.Any one out there with either of these models? I'd like to get your opinion.

Ya, what would be more all American than an all honey locust Hill bow? I'd have to come up with a good American wood Riser ( light weight ). got any ideas Brian?

Knawbone, I have a T/D Rhino  66" 52# @ 27" ... its a sweety and was the downfall of a few critters in South Island New Zealand

Well guys, I will be heading to Idaho tomorrow for a bear hunt, armed with my HH Cheetah. Enroute, I plan on stopping by Hamilton and seeing Craig Ekin and do a bit of browsing at HH Archery. I will take some pictures and post when I get home. I hope to have pictures of a bear with my longbow next to him as well. I'm looking forward to a good time, however the hunt turns out.

For Hill bows the Myrtle is as classic as it gets for the riser. Lightweight , American and gorgeous.  A nice maple with figure could be another fantastic option!
