Yesterday, I took my fast flight string off of my yew and put the Dacron back on it, to allow me to shoot a lower spined shaft.  At first I noticed some increased thump, but within a couple dozen shots, the thump disappeared and the groups got really tight.  I proved to myself that we have the ability to meld with the bow.  And once again my wife chewed my butt for trashing arrows.  She pointed to my stash of a hundred or so arrows that need repairs and said 'when you get this all fixed up and get it done for less than $100 then you can think about a new bow.' How could I let that arrow repair thing get away from me this bad?

Been gone awhile, trying to get caught up.  I think I've missed about 100 pages now.  Glad to see nothing has died down around here.  Switched from the Tembo to the Owl blank that I originally got from Craig.  It sure seems like a sweet shooter now.  It didn't back when though.

Try to make it out to shoot daily, usually ends up every other day.  Always mean to come in and log on afterwards, just doesn't seem to happen.  And for awhile I was just on fire.  Lately hit a bit of an inconsistency slump.  Sometimes I make a fist-sized group at the bullseye at 20.  Go get my arrows.  Walk back and have a 12" spread on the next flight.  Usually I have a great first shot.  I guess that's what counts, right?  Seem to shoot best when I don't think about it.  But then it doesn't seem like I'm coming to anchor or using good back tension.  Guess I just need more practice, blind bailing, etc.  Still miles from where I was when I first picked up the hill style.  I remember I was pretty happy with a 12" group back then.  It meant I wasn't looking for arrows in the leaves.  Don't lose many arrows anymore, usually just break 'em.  It's been about 1.5 years now since I set the recurve down, and over 2.5 years since I bought that Owl blank after getting bit by the bug...

Scrub - Sounds like just the one I've been waiting for.  You're price is even right.  Just the timing is bad.  Low on funds and heading into furlough season at the moment.  Good luck with that.  I really would like some yew to shoot one of these days...

Couldn't help myself and jumped on Scrub_buck's Redman. Looks like I am back in a Hill Bow again. I just can't resist a yew bow.

Hi CHuck, I just put a deposit on a little english cocker pup to use for flushing bunnies and birds for my hawks. Figured I'd sell a bow for the rest of the cash. Dustin got a good deal on the bow.I basicallly covered the shipping costs over what I paid for it. I got it for a great price and figured I'd pass on the same.

Dustin,Wait until you see it in hand, the pics don't do it any justice, you'll be more than happy with it!  :D

Wow, Nick. When I saw it for sale I figured another Timberline came up.

Good on ya fr the pup, the English Cocker is not as widely used here as some others but te good thing is the breeders have seemed to keep a good hunting line around.  Next you will tell us you got a standard Poodle for water retrieves.

I Know this is an archery forum but when you get the pup take a pic of it next to your bows so we can see the cutie!!

Brian,I've been thinking about thinning the herd to just keep my Timberlines anyway. I have a few really nice Hill style bows that may be on the classifieds soon.

I forgot you're a bird dog man. I've always had hounds and always blueticks. Both beagles and coonhounds.I was going to get another bluetick beagle, but wanted a dog that works a little closer and that I could stop at the flush.Had to be small also to get into the thick cover we have here. When I saw a blue roan english cocker that was it for me! This little guy is blue roan and tan, looks like a long haired bluetick.Ped is filled with FC dogs from both here and the UK. Parents and grandparents are all hard hunting pheasant dogs.I'll post a pic when he gets here,we might even name him "Howard"

Good name !!!
I had a redtick a while a go I rescued but I sent him to my buddy so he can run with the pack. He is now a full out coyote dog.
When it comes to fur dogs I'm a sucker for black mouth curs, they work closer for me.

Took my daughter to her first 3-d shoot today. We had a blast shooting together. I'm so happy she had fun and wants to go again. She even asked if we could join the club so we can shoot there more than just at the 3-d shoots!  :D
Here she is with a great shot on her favorite target.

Here's a pic we sent to mom letting her know that "Beans" shot an 11 and dad only got an 8.

I ran into a guy that I haven't seen in probably 15 years at the shoot. He asked what my bow was and I told him a Timberline,my favorite bows. He said he had one at home. He's going to bring it to the next shoot to see if I want it.
That made a Great day even a little better.  :goldtooth:

Sharing the love of archery with one's daughter is one of the great joys of being a Dad.  Watching her get excited about tournaments is just icing on the cake.  Congrats to the both of you, and thanks for sharing!
