RC - my Northern Mist Classic likes 400 full length carbons with 200 grain points. I pull 27" and the bow is 49@28. That arow ends up about 520 grains or so if memory serves me.

I think I read it was because white arrows showed up on film better. He probably used them when filming.

Backset is correct--not string follow.

Thanks Canopyboy for the heads up on Moebow1's youtube videos! Excellent instructional videos! Anyone already shooting a Hill style longbow or considering it should view these videos and most will benefit from viewing them...

So, I'm shooting my new Miller old Tom, and I just switched to woodies, I'm getting my inward down feather hitting the shelf and wearing them out ( pieces coming off the feathers) the arrow tail is hitting the shelf. My previous carbon beman MFX carbon classic 500 traditionals are not hitting nearly as bad. I did not change the nock position yet, I did try raising the arrow nock above the nock set to get the tail higher off the shelf but it hit worse, right now I'm set about a full quarter inch high nock. If I go above my nock point with the arrow I'm about 1/2 inch tail high. I shoot standard split finger, and I have a nice inline release and elbow position. What do you think the issue might be, the woodies are from Bob at Whispering Winds Arrows and are spined for my bow. They are sweet arrows!

Bow is 68" right hand, 70@28, arrows are 70-74 spine @ 28.

I draw a true 28 inch,  arrows are hex arrows 437 grains with a 160 grain point, shield feather LW.

My guess is the arrows aren't stiff enough.  Try a 125 gr point and then cut a 1/2" off with and stick with a 125 gr point.  Then another.  I don't know how much room you have to work with for arrow length.  Before cutting, you could try adding weight to see if that's the problem.  Try a 200 gr head.

I'll second that the spine is too weak with the 160's.  Try what Overspined suggested to see if you can still use these shafts by dropping to 125, but I'll bet you'll end up with 75-80's and 125gr hardware up front if you shoot a FF string.

I noticed in the other thread that at least one person was telling you to crank the brace height up to 7"+....but I didn't see anything but D/R bows listed in the signature...stick with what you know is right for that Miller...it's in a class by itself.

Good call, I will call David.

I didn't mean to post in the Pow wow.  Thought I was here, posting at home,  among long-bowmen.
