I wonder how much domestic grief this thread is causing with guys coming down with "the bug" and ordering bows?      :D

Wading in, guys and gals for a "peek". Have been offsite for awhile and lo and behold come back on to see page after page of HH magic. Being a fan but lazy, I have not gone through each entry in this thread and my query may already have been answered. I have owned a Wesley Special and currently have a Big Five. I also shoot a HH style bow of an older design made by Rocky Mountain Longbow company. I love the round full grip on this latter bow. Are any of you familiar with bows made by Craig that have a more round or full grip instead of the trapezoid or narrow grip which is common on a HH.

unless you specify otherwise, all new craig hills sport rounded grips - no more of that wedge/teardrop grip.

Tony just ordered one with a more full grip for his larger hands, he'd be the guy to ask.

How many of you guys that have multiple Hills or Hill style bows find that you mostly shoot one over all the others, and why?  My son has been raving about a Northern Mist whisper he shot when the expo came to his town. He is afraid that all his other bows will go unused if he gets one.

They're kind of like pets. You love them all but, one has a special place in your eye. Mine currently is a Big5 I got from Rob. It is a real sweet shooter, and I find that I grab it when I want to fling a few.

The others will not get neglected, just not shot as much.   :D

I shoot all my bows--won't post how many that is!    If I have a bow that for some reason I find I just don't want to shoot it goes down the road so I have bow money to put in another one.  The eleventh commandment says that bow money has to go back into another bow, do you guys know that???  :readit:  Would I lie to you??  "[dntthnk]"

I shoot all of them, but as mentioned above, you will eventually gravitate to one that behaves the sweetest to your style, as in weight, tiller, grip. Being a mostly handmade product means they all vary, even if it is slight. That will show up at some point as a match or mismatch to you. Just an opinion!

Don't you just love how some bowyers like to keep you on the edge anticipating your new bow!  :banghead:

Got a call from Nate last night to say that "El Tigre" was in final sanding, and then an email today saying that the first coat of varnish was done. He also mentioned that he shot three arrows from the bow and all were dead center of the target. He went on to say how beautifully it's turning out, what a sweetheart it is to shoot, and that he thought it was the fastest bow of this type that he has built to date!

Gotta be the perfect example of a love/hate relationship!   :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:

Hope to have some pics and a report next week when it arrives!

Spanky,
You've probably already posted the spec's on the "El Tigre" but to save some of us the time of looking thru 108 pages, please repeat them for us lazy people! 'Would appreciate it!!

Larry, this is one of Nate's new bows that has glass only on the back, and just the tempered bamboo on the belly. It is 65" in length and came in at 56@27, brown glass back with the caramelized boo on the belly, and a Myrtle riser with my favorite straight teardrop grip. I know some folks don't like that style grip, but I have found it to be very repeatable, and torque free when sized properly.

Nate built this one to replace my beloved Pete George "White Mountain" that I had to sell last year so it's very special. This style of bow to me, gives all the sweet characteristics of the split bamboo bows, like the Schulz Naturals, but with the added protection, strength, cast, and string follow control over time provided by the glass back. Some will disagree, but I think it's the best of both worlds!

Here's the link to my original post on the Pete George bow so you can get an idea of what they look like.  http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=059883
