Thanks Spanky, for posting the spec's and the photo of the Bob Burton bow. I came close to ordering a bow from Nate  in '06 since my son lives in Idaho. I was too impatient to wait so I ordered a Shelton in '06. Sunset Hill is on my "Wish List" probably at the top of the list now thanks to-you no less!!

OK   it's your fault and yours, and yours, and so forth!!!! All of these posts pushed me over the edge. Thanks to you guys I was forced to buy a HH Big Five from far rider just so I wouldn't feel too left out. Now maybe I can sleep at night! Thanks Tim, I enjoyed meeting and shooting with you. Also, you were great to deal with. Now on to learning to shoot it.  Gerald

At the end of another long, tricky day at the world's best job, I reached for my Redman and the quiver-full of blunts atop my filing cabinet, and wandered out onto the oval with my battered old plastic milk bottle. Starting close, like twelve metres, I proceeded to shoot one arrow before walking back to twenty metres, then thirty, and then forty (or thereabouts). The milk bottle either got smashed again each shot, or was severely frightened. Then the rain came down again (monsoon season), and it brought a big grin to my mug to be out there just being a boy with a bow, getting soaking wet, and seeing how my arrows fly with wet feathers (no worries!). It was an absolute joy to be shooting, and hopefully when things dry-up a bit, a little pig will find himself or herself in some trouble. As you blokes know, I have a few really nice, fine, expensive bows, and they are fast and deadly and fun and magical; but the simple Hill longbow just has a bit more magic, to my thinking.

Northern Ben ,
I'm looking forward to the day we see the Redman , yourself and a hog snapped in a fine photo . So til the rain eases and the 'wet ' heads off for another year I'm glad you experience the same joy I do from flinging woodies with a straight stick .
Very cool mate ... thanks for sharing.

I parted with my "Robin Hood Special" this morning but thanks to a friend I will be easing it's loss with an "old friend" of mine in the form of my old Redman 70" and 48@31&1/2".

I'm looking forward to it's arrival.

I didn't allow myself to even fling one last arrow out of the "Robin Hood" when it's new owner was taking it for a test flight this morning.

I won't tell where it went but I will say it has a good new home where it will be valued for what it is and I will miss it but may have some chances to shoot it again down the road.

God bless,Mudd

I am "The Quintessential" "bowaholic" !!!!!!!

Howard Hill bows are my trigger bows and at the moment a "Halfbreed" has an enormous hold on my imagination.

I'm struggling...... I know that eventually I'll break down but right now I need to be strong.

God bless,Mudd

PS: Thanks RC. I sure look forward to the day I can shake you hand and share a campfire with you.

It is a nice day here today, I strung ten longbows and went out and shot a quiver load from each bow.  I don't need any more bows than I can carry out to the back at one time, at least I no longer have two of everything. Mudd, neither do you, but I know just saying that will make the urge even stronger.  I have a beautiful half breed I made from a blank. There are no knots, it is almost maroon, with a cocobolo riser.  It is so smooth and fast that it has become my favorite right hand bow, but I need to be careful to not shoot very many right handers because of my finger problems, it is getting a little better.  I hope you will enjoy your future Halfbreed and I hope you shoot more than just a few arrows out of it before you trade it off. I need a reverse handled yew longbow, I know I do, I can feel it coming. Maybe i should get two and keep the one i like the best.

I hold the same sentiment here.  Within this thread I have met some great men and find myself daydreaming about road trips to do that very thing Mudd!

You're a great bunch for sure.

You guys looking for the reverse handled bows need to remember that you may have to shorten them up about 2" to keep the performance of your standard bow. Make sure you talk to your bowyer first, and not just order the same length as your others - my experience!

Two inches shorter and make them as lean and mean as possible, the reverse handle takes care of the any stability issues.

Good point Ken,  seems the power stroke is effectively 2" shorter so do we need to compensate with a change in draw wt?  I think we would/could  be shooting shorter arrows
