Terry...Thank you for the effort you put into scouting and organizing this event.

To all of Team Javie, it was an absolute pleasure sharing camp and hunting with all of you.  Thank you for the fun times and great memories!

Rusty, looks like your right about the dialup, although mine is slower than most.  After 5 minutes 3% was loaded.  Guess I'll have to go to work early tomorrow to check out that video.

Rusty,
That was so cool.  Although, it would of taken a better man than me to pass on a 10yd shot at Mr. J.J..  Thanks for sharing and great job,
Brad

Good stuff Rusty. You guys have a great spot there even have hills for spot and stalk. Not flat like south TX brush county. Love to watch them critters mutter around, the way they stop like deer in mid stride to try to catch you moving. Could almost smell the stink glands from here. Can hardly wait the two weeks till I'll get to chase them about in Texas. Thanks for the video.

Wow!  That was neat!  I kept expecting to see an arrow zip through one of them...

Can't wait to try my luck at them in March.
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Ahh a grand time indeed. Yea, Thanks to Terry for organizing the event. Some of my random observations from the hunt:

Arizona is a loooong way from Cinti, even by jumbo jet.

Airport security is wierd. They let all my electronics through without a hassle, but inspected my sleeping bag and a boot full of rocks, elk sinew and cow ribs twice.

The desert is a lot colder than I thought it would be and quite windy

Mike Westvang is a heck of a shot and a great camp cook but he packs way too much stuff  ha ha. Connie is a trooper and tells some funny camp fire stories. Besides she's easy on the eyes even when she takes her hat off. I can see why Mike has kept her around for so long. Glad to have had the chance to share a hunting camp with "Mama Connie".

Terry Petko has a stride longer than a T- Rex's and lures you into colliding with cactuses by stepping over patches that you can't. His main problem is he can't walk in a direct line back to a vehicle. He believes east/west washes will take you back to a truck that lies due north of you. Wish Terry would have punctured the hide on one of those stink pigs..he deserves to if anyone does

Rusty Craine is a lot of fun to talk to one on one late into the night, and it was worth missing a hot shower for that conversation alone. He also still hunts at a great pace. Got to see and shoot his glass backed wood bellied bendy handled bow and it's a dandy. Nice work Rusty.

Didn't get to talk to Bobby much but from what I did he's a heck of a nice guy and shoots a smoking hot bow. Dayem that bow is fast. Now that we taught him how to properly shoot his selfbow he's going to give those javies fits. 8~)

George is a great friend and just too easy going. Wish there were more people in the world like George, it would be a better place.

To Joe Javie..it's only a matter of time and you are so lucky the white haired one decided to take your pic rather than pierce your hide...  ;)

It was fun fellas, Thank for letting me share the campfire and the experience.

Hey Rusty,

That video was really great!  What kind of video camera records onto a DVD?  That sounds about as fool-proof as what I need.  Really cool video.

John - it is a Sony DCR-DVD201.  it records directly to the mini DVD-R and DVD-RW.  it is the Handycam series.  small but good optics and lots of features.  You can put the mini DVD right into your DVD player or you download the dvd into your PC program, edit the video, add sound, etc.  Preetty good edting software comes with the camera.  it has pickup for mic to hook up a radio transmitter, has a couple of video I/O's.  uses the Sony InfoLITHIUM M battiers.

Good video cam for a ameture like me  :)

rusty.

btw it has a night vision tyhpe thing "Night Shot Plus" prices is around $1K but worth it if ya really want the video under all conditions

Thanks Rusty,

I've always been reluctant to move away from my still digital cameras into the camcorders because of the limited storage capacity of the small solid memory sticks (along with their high cost).  I've looked up the camera you used and it looks like a good one.

Watching the last video had me laughing out loud again while sitting at the computer by myself.  My family thinks I've lost it.  :knothead:

Great video of what looks like was a great time!!

Terry was knapping rocks while we were there.  he hit a real good spawl that he used to skin the javie with.  I got video of Terry skining the javie ABO style but I don't think I'll post it.   A bit "organic" I think.

Terry said the his baslat skinner was sharper than his steel knife....Ferret suggested that knapping was not the best way to sharpen a K-Bar

George and I took a short excursion to an old abandon rock house that was pretty neat.  George no longer thinks I am teasing when I talk about my ability to get lost or my inability to back a truck up.   :)

We went across a dam that was pretty high.  the end with the spill away had be washed out.....now we were 200 yds down a very norrow dam.  40 feet down one side to the wash, 20 feet down to real serious mud and water.   :)

Maybe George won't ride with me next time

Wingnut let someone organize the cook tent?  I tried that and got accused of scrounging for scraps once... Rusty we need to see the tour of the cook tent..
