2005 Southern NY Bunny Hunt
« on: December 31, 2004, 03:28:00 PM »
Okay, here we go!!! I am gonna do two days(Feb. 19th. and the 20th.) this year if we get enough guys to stay for two days. We can stay right at Mom + Dads for the night. There are also several motels near by and I will post there names and ph.#s as this thread moves along. We will start it out like last year and people can start showing up by 7am. Sat. morning. I figured donuts and coffee and such and then some fun shooting. We will do the killer steel and some aeriels and such. We can have lunch and do an afternoon hunt from 1pm to dark. We can than have dinner and a fire and whoever wants to stay can, and we will get up and hunt all day Sunday. People can leave as they need too, due to time and travel. We are gonna have some awards for first bunny and most bunnies. I have a nice bow to give away and will have a few other items donated by some local archery shops. Joe Skipp is making up a special dozen arrows abnd my buddy will have some hickory staves there. I think Linc is making a bow to donate and like last year everyone can bring something for prizes. BHraek a baloon get a prize, hit an aeriel, get a prize, you guys that were there last year know the drill. Now all you guys have to do is decide if ya like the two day deal and we will work out the details of everything as we go along. I will say there are lots of bunnies this year! Dad and I went out on Monday and saw 22. I only shot 3, as I want to save some of them for our hunt. We went yesterday, me and 3 buds and in 1hr.,We got 8 and if I could shoot we would have had at least 13. We were carrying shotguns by the way. I was not gonna start this for another week or so, but since we want to try 2 days, I figured it would give guys time to plan. We can do a Bon-Fire on sat. night and then retire to our accomodations, if we get too many guys we can sleep in the garage as well. I have a Salomander and a couple space heaters. We will talk about food and who is bringing what as this thing goes along. I will also say thjat I have a special spot, that has not been hunted in a few years and is loaded with rabbits, just do no make fun of all the treestands ya see, I have 4 in one 80yd. patch. I am sorry to be longwinded but you know me and I think it is gonna be good, so chime in and let me know. I will check in  little today, but me and the misses are alone for the day and night so, well you know!! I also wanted t say that my Mom and Dad are looking forward to this and Mom was the one who said,"If ya cannot get the house next door the guys can sleep here, we can move stuff around and we will have plenty of room, hell if we have too they can sleep in the kitchen!" I think it will be a blast!! I cannot wait!!  P.S. I just read my post and girls are included!! Take Care!!  Shawn

Shawn,

If it's ok, I sure would like to make the drive from eastern New Hampshire.  'Course, I'd bring a sleeping bag if ya have enough room for me. Let me know.

David, we have room. All are welcome. If we get a real lot I will just have to split the hunting party into groups. It is hard to put 40 guys thru a 3 acre piece. I also have spots that, that would not be enough guys!! Shawn

Gotta plan for it but I need Nanook to bring his wife to break trail for me if it snows again   :D
Got a few nice bows for Curt to try out   ;)  and plenty of sleeping bags and heater. Wabbits Beware of all the other guys but me  :(  ..I am taking odds that there ain't no other wabbit that is going to implae himself on Bryan's arrow this year.  :bigsmyl:  ..the more I think of it that long volley of archers from the brush pile to him caused the wabbit to speed up and loose control.    ...Mac~

Shawn..looks like I may make day 2...but I'm sending up the aerial disc, some old flu-flu's that I had in the shop, I think 4 or6 not sure. You can keep the disc and flu-flus for future use. I'm in the shop working on arrows today, then I'm hitting the woods for squirrels this afternoon. Be talking to you.  Joe
