By the way,If anybody doesn't know the cast of charactors I speak of in this thread.Check out the thread "Trainwreck and a Bully Hen"
Nolz, you're absolutly right!!! Had I have shot him in the woods,I probably wouldn't have found him without the string tracker. I said I got luckey...I wasn't lyin'!!!!
Warren, Thanks Bud
Thinking back on my first shot,I guess I wasn't concentrating like I should have been.Because if I was,I wouldn't have remembered all the detail(him going slick while I drew).I think if I was concentrating on my spot like I should have.I wouldn't have remembered all that. Something I need to work on
.
All of my best shots I don't remember anything but the arrow striking!!
Thinking back again( I do alot of that, trying to learn from experience I guess),as most of you know a turkey can't fly if he can't use his legs to push off.I wonder if that bird positioned himself on that tiny cliff just to try to get enough air under his wings to try to get away.It would have been over right there had it not been for that.
By the way,the shot took him broadside into the near thigh/drumstick juntion, through the bottom of his breast, into a bit of gut,and cut the hell out of the muscle on the off drumstick. The Snuffer did a lot of damage. That's why I like them big Snuffers, for those less than perfect hits.I love the Woodsmans,I've used them successfully on turkeys before, but I'll stick with my Snuffers for turkeys.Woodsmans for everything else!!!
