Birthday Doe
« on: October 20, 2005, 07:25:00 AM »
Yowser! - well, it may be more appropriatly referred to as a yearling but it was a female type, and I did get it yesterday evening,   on my birthday. First time I ever got any deer on my Birthday (though I did get a Marine Corps Birthday Buck a few years ago). It also is my second Traditional deer and first this year, so she's a real trophy to Moi, no matter what else you may choose to call her. She was the first one I saw last night and it was late for the area I've been hunting, she gave me a nice shot, and I figured it might be my only chance at a Birthday Whitetail. I did see two more, larger yearlings a half hour later but they were not close enough to my stand anyway - and that was all I saw last night - so I guess it was meant to be my shot. Anyway, I am one happy camper!
Oh yeah, I tracked and recovered her myself (she only went about 20 or thirty yards into the thick).

Let's see, facts only, Mame. I was shooting my Adcock longbow, "Someone Special", aluminum arrows (1913, loaded with rope) - as seen in Avatar. Silver Flame Bhs (love 'em) and she was aprox. 8 or 10 yds away from base of my tree. Oh yeah, and a Mike G, Archery Leathers by Mike, Hunter Armguard (hi, Mike    ;) )

When I see a deer like that my mouth starts to water thinking of the hot sausage she's gonna make. Nice story and continued good luck.
