Curt,
Great story my friend. Even better pictures! I just came back from a long week of chasin elk with the lil' fella'. Sadly, we still have two un-punched elk tags! I spent 3 days from sun-up till sun down chasin a legitamite 340" class bull. As Rosey says..."That bull is un-huntable!" This bull was amazing. He was living in the middle of a huge alfalfa field with his 40 cows. There was no way to approach him as the wind was always wrong and he always had 80 sets of eyes watching his back. But I did manage to get within 75 yards of him on 2 occasions. Everytime I would close the gap, his cows would give us away and he'd just head out to the sage flat where there was no way of getting him. But thats elk hunting...as you now know! I'm back for a night to shower, shave and sleep in a bed. Then tommorrow morning I'm off again. Rumor has it this will be the best week here. A 530" non-typical bull was just killd in the Selway-Bitteroot area outside of Missoula, MT. So at least 1 guy in Montana has had some luck...A whole lot of it!!
Hmmm...I live in Montana and all my tags are still unfilled. Well except for the many doe tags I've been filling! But here a "city slicker" from NEW YORK comes out here and kills a P&Y antelope and whitetail. I better get my as in gear.
Good news is, I did finally get a haircut! I have mailed you the poem, poster and pictures you left here. Enjoy them my brother.
I'm already working on a new ranch for next years elk season. Rosey and I plan to check it out this spring.
I had a great time being your guide but now I better get some sleep and try to fill my tags. It goes without saying but you and ol' Momma P are always welcome again.
Here's looking forward to a life long friendship!
Best Peter
