Vance,

I think the proper spelling is "pair a dice".  And like most dice games it would be craps around.

I went over to Paradise Fri night and carried Charlie some fried chicken. They were all doing well and eating buffalo burgers???????.....I've been a member of paradise for a few years and didn't even know there was buffalo on the place.  :knothead:

I had a great visit and wished I could have stayed and hunted.....  :banghead:

Here are a few pics from the hunt at the Paradise.  The place is named well:  it's beautiful and has lots of wildlife.  This photo was taken the first night at a local seafood restaurant.  Left to right, there's Charlie Lamb, Terry Green, Bob Walker, Rob DiStefano, and Woody Blackwell.  Joe Coots arrived later that night.

Here's Terry at full draw:

Terry's arrow is on the way.

"Dang, that boy ain't half bad."

There was a variety of habitats at the Paradise.  This was a stand of bottomland hardwoods.

This was a palmetto flat.  Some of the palmettos have berries which are eaten by deer and hogs.

Here's a stand of cypress which are normally in water.  It hadn't rained much in months and the standing water was gone.

Here's a picture of the oxbow at the main camp.

These cypresses lined the edges of the oxbow.  You can see the old water lines on the tree trunks.

This old sweetgum had toppled into the water.  That evening we saw alligators under it in the water.  I wouldn't have been so adventurous if I'd known about them at the time...

The featured menu item for deer and hogs was chestnut oak acorns.  There's nothing in the photo for scale (my bad), but the acorns were as big around as a quarter.

This chestnut oak had a wiggle in the middle.

This pics shows some of the life on top of that downturned section.

I sat against this fallen tree one morning.  The roots extended up about 18 feet.

These were growing on the trunk.  Is this oyster shell fungus?  Anyone know?

Last pic.  This bird is an anhinga, also called "snakebird."  It swims through the water with only its head and neck exposed, which may account for "snakebird."  It doesn't have a lot of oil to keep its feathes dry, so it spends a lot of time perched and preening with its wings spread to dry.

It was a real pleasure to visit the Paradise -- Terry did his darndest to spoil us.  The best thing about it was having the chance to spend time with a great bunch of guys.  The first thing I look for on Trad Gang is Charlie's posts about his hunts, so I was very happy to get to meet him and share a little adventure with him.  Sure hope to do it again sometime.

3 days of hunting.....with my most familiar area being shut down, and with the last two hours of the 1st evening being a toad strangler.... we still managed to see over 80 deer....just gotta see how many deer Woody saw to get the final total.

Terry, I think it was eight deer and a coyote.  I'd have to borrow fingers and toes to count up the armadillos.    :)

Can't wait to hear the whole story!

Woody, I had the pleasure of sharing a camp with all the guys in your group pic this past spring. Ya won't find a better group of guys. Paradise looks like an awesome place. I might have to bid a little at the next auction!
