When Tom sent that arrow was the most moving moment of the hunt. I can't say that I saw it rise as my eyes where misted over.

Really wish I had been there to see it. Sounds like a fine gesture, Tom...

Yup, Sonnys nuggets looked like stewed tomato's and I was warming them with my hand as we walked home. I looked up and he was limping a bit and figured he would like the ride. I put him down in the yard and his walk was straight and he looked back at me and smiled!! Toms gesture was awesome, Barb would be proud. She had talked of coming to this hunt with us and than she passed away, I sure would of loved to meet her in person. She was a special lady!! We miss ya Barb!! The picture of the arrow with Barbs name on it made me smile

The picture of it being shot made me cry

Sure miss Barb.

The picture of the arrow with Bernie's name on it made me nervous!

I miss my ol' friend, too, guys. I could always trust her to take it to the lowest common denominator, bless her, so that I could look good and take the "high road". Never met her, but never had someone so quick to take a line and run with it. Ya ever see two pups race across a field, each with a bite on a stick that neither one will give up? Like two wild fillies in a tandem harness?

I have.
Damn.

When Tom shot the arrow we all got real quiet for a couple seconds.....then I remember Shawn saying a little something real nice about Barb with a weak voice as the arrow seemed to climb forever and went out of sight......then we all got quiet again.

Then I remember hearing Shawn say...next year we'll do it for mom......I had a tear in my eye and lump in my throat......

It is so fitting, this archers' salute. How else can one  watch  a prayer?

Guys, I couple names form a hat as I did not have the tickets here. The winner of the arrow wraps are Tom(swampbuck) and Mikey(Mcground) please PM me an address and I will get them out to you guys, Onestringer did a very nice thing donating these wraps and keep him in mind if ya need any. Great price and great wraps!! I read these posts and get teary eyed one way or another, either from laughing or reminiscing!! Thanks for the memories. Larry sent me a PM about the hunt and stated how I always say "this is still about the hunt" and went on to say that this has become much more than that. I have to finally admit he is right, this touches so many more people that do not even attend!! That makes me feel good and that "WE" as a group do so much to support each other makes me feel even better!! OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn

You have a reason to be proud Shawn....Look how many people this hunt touched. Turned me into a trad hunter. Literally everyone I met was decent, and once they found out I was a "newbie" they only wanted to help. Opened up a whole new avenue to hunting for me...and I am just one of the many people who attended. Besides that, it was great food, great company, a heck of a hunt, and a honor to help ST Judes. I only met her once years ago, but Im sure your mom would be proud. I for one, will be attending as many as I can in the future.
Congrats Tom and Mike!

Shawn i love the new avatar, you look good with that bunny. The JLMBH is a great thing and has had a good impact on everyone involved or not. After all the hoopla leading up to the hunt and then being able to meet you all in person i can say that i was not disappointed one bit i would love to hookup with as many of the people on this site as i can throughout the course of the year and have some more good times.

I was "busting brush" on the second day of the hunt when someone said Ru had gotten one. I was so happy for him, I knew how much that would have meant for him. But then I ran into a bunch of guys who said Ru had gotten not one but two bunnies...       ... I was sure they were pulling my leg....
Also, he had benefited from so much generosity the year before, it was nice to see him gladly donate a knife he had worked on for so long.
So, Shawn, you are right, this event is more than just a hunt and it does touch more people and in more ways than we'll ever know...    :notworthy:      :notworthy:    :notworthy:

Till next year,

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
