Virginia squirrel hunt logistics thread
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:00:00 AM »
I figured I start a new thread to organize things.  Please post when you're coming, how many are in your party, what food you're bringing and for which night.  The reason I thought of this is to keep the food/nights organized.  That way we don't end up with too much of one thing and not enough of another.  I'll keep editing this post so we have a tally of everything.

Also, is Sat/Sun lunch and breakfast a fend for yourself kinda deal or are we gonna divy up lunch meats, condiments, and such?

Attendance:
Clintopher   Fri/Sat night
Bob Walker   Fri/Sat night
Bobby?       Fri/Sat night
Killdeer     Fri/Sat night arrive Fri afternoon
Badger Matt  Fri/Sat night arrive Fri afternoon
Chad         Fri/Sat night arrive Fri afternoon
Tom          Saturday only arrive Sat 7 am
Chris        Saturday only arrive Sat 7 am
Knife River  Fri night?/Sat night
and Son      Fri night?/Sat night
JWD          Fri/Sat night  arrive Fri morning
Stringcutter Fri/Sat night
Paradocs     Fri night/Sat night?

Friday night:
Clintopher           Stew/Pies
Bob Walker (Bobby?)  Gumbo
Badger Matt/Chad     Chili
Killdeer             Pies?

Saturday night:
Tom/Chris              Jerky
Knife River/Son        Chili
JWD                    Veggie Beef soup/oysters

If everyone throws in a few bucks the portajon will be covered.  What about firewood?  Does the club have any?  I can bring a little.

That leaves plates, cups, and utensils.  I've got some plasticware that I can bring.

Can anybody think of anything else?

Clint

This was a good idea there Mr. Clint. Doesn't look like I'll have to cook anything Fri. nite and I might still cook some ham beens for Sat. lunch. Lookin for the Tom to check in here tonite, maybe get some of those last questions answered. I'll be travelin Thurs. to pick up the oysters and clams, won't be able to blast off for up there till early Fri. mornin. Now that work is startin to come my way I have to manage my time a little better. Sounds like we'll eat good and if the gods look down us with favor we might even get a shot or two at a skuerrl. Lookin forward to the company and Sat. campfire. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Jerry

I'll keep editing the thread in my original post, that way there's a quick, easy reference.  Is a stove/oven available at the club?

Bob mentioned rice, so I am bringing my camp stove, a pot and some white rice. I do the sticky Chinese style, or sushi style or Basmati or Jasmine, so don't expect Uncle Ben's. Bob wants white rice, so that is what I will bring.

Like it or...oh. It IS lumpy.  :D

Got cold running water, and electric. Plus a wood burning stove with blower if things get cold.
we got about 15 couches... about 4-5 would't be to bad to sleep on. the rest might be too narrow......

I was waiting for a reply to Tom's post by Kathy. I must say that was much more reserved than I had expected!

I gotta smoked ham I'll bring; maybe some rolls and cheese.
Now, I'm a bit confused, which ain't exactly a rarity.  Are we meeting at the club on Friday, or at the Sheetz?

If I can find the Sheetz, I can prolly find your house. I won't be down before noon, more likely between noon and four.

You stop hunting for  lunch ?
Oy.

Chad and I will arrive Friday afternoon -- skippin' a half day of school.  Yep -- we're on for a crock pot full of chili Friday night.  I'll see if the missus will bake some homemade bread as well.

I can bring along some firewood and will try and find the dutch oven for some sort of cobbler Friday or Saturday night.

Of course, we'll chip in on the porta-potty too.

Stephen is suppose to let me know today when he will be able to leave on Friday. He has a test in Roanoke that am. I'll post as soon as I hear from him. I'm thinking we'll be there by 2 or so. Bobby will be there too so Kathy get your poking stick ready.
