Thanks guys I'm still grinnin' ;-)
« on: May 08, 2006, 03:16:00 PM »
LDB and I spent some quality time together the last few days.  It was short and sweet and memorable.  Could have kept it a couple of more days but I put it in the mail today to make sure the next guy (Kojac) got it on time.  Plus I was growing too danged attached to it for comfort.  This bow was like it was made just for me.  It felt right with the first shot.  What a great shooting bow.

I took it down south around Tilden, TX for a short solo 2 ½ day hunt.  This area is dry as a bone with hardly any rain for many months.  The last tank on the property dried up several weeks ago.  How game manages to survive these conditions is a mystery to me but they seem to do ok.  They just seem to slow down a bit and not move much except very early and late in the day.  Not much to do but a bit of stump shooting and scouting around for the upcoming deer season.

Couldn’t get the turkey to answer but did attempt a stalk on a lone tom around mid morning  Saturday.

Did I say it was hot and dry?

Couple of rabbits committed suicide while waiting on the hogs to move.  I don’t normally shoot them but sometimes I break down. Yes it was a head shot. LDB made me do it. I do like to eat ‘em.

We did have some hogs start moving Saturday evening at around 8:30 on a sendero that I’d corned at noon.  I got into position about 40 yards from them.  They were coming my way which would give me a 5 yard shot.  At 9:00 PM they were just a few yards away and still coming.  I could still see good enough to shoot but decided tracking a hog at night by myself in this rattlesnake infested brush was not a good idea.  Stood up, quivered my arrow and walked back to the truck with the sound of hogs crunching corn behind me.  Man it was a nice evening.

We did lot’s of walking around looking at stuff.

We slept together

We ate together.

In general just enjoyed each others company.  Thanks to all who are a part of this idea.  I hope to be lucky enough to do it again

Thanks Van, neat story and pics also. You've shared time with a special bow for sure.

Well I'll be,

I reconize the bow in that picture. It's the same the post man left in my front porch.  Yesterday was a long one for me so comeing home to this little gem looking at me was real treat.

Thanks for a the speedy delivery,Van.

I've been pretty jacked about this bow for some time now. I really feel I have let her down a little though. I was out of town for 3 weeks(work does get in the way) and I didn't buy my bear tag in time for the spring season, here in montana you have to buy a bear tag before the spring opening date to hunt bears in the spring and I didn't   :smileystooges:   but we'll see.

thanks for opportunity,
brian

We were about to start dusting them for ticks, it was so dry. :)  Been raining pretty good lately.
I hear y'all are still dry down there.

Good pictorial, Van. Good thinking on the pigs at dark too - look at it as Countin' coup - ya reached out n' touched 'em spiritually at least.
