Neat looking mark for those knives Jeff, just adds a little more to an already great looking knife!

As part of this hunt, I threw everyone's name in a hat that might want a chance to hunt moose, and then pulled two names as a subpermitte and an alternate to hunt with me this fall should I be drawn for a Maine moose tag.  We held the drawing right at the end of the raffle, and the winner was..............................

...........Woodchucker-Chuck Nelson!  Congrats Chuck, here's to our good luck in the draw!

The alternate is Bob Brown, so if Chuck for some reason can't go, (here's your cue Joe), Bob will step to the plate.

My poor bow    :(

I knew that fiberglass needed to be fixed from being beat up for 10yrs,should have done something about it.If it wasn't for that little "tip" it caught on,it would have been fine, just string it back up and hunt!! Done it before...a couple times!!! We'll see what Jack can do with it,at worse I get a new set of limbs, and Keith gets to mess with these.I got a feeling he can work some of his magic on it

Southpaw, just sent the pix you wanted

Jeremy,I took some pix of the knife,I'll send then today.

I wish we could do this all over again this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! You all make this real special!!! Every year I think,"it can't get any better",but every year it does.........

Hey Curt,
Just sittin' here thinkin' the same thing. This time last week I was all excited & waiting for Greg to stop by & pick me up.
Can't believe it went by so quickly

I just PM'ed ya my add. on the knife post you put up.

I really got that wingbone singin' now. It's the easiest to work, sweetest soundin' wingbone I've ever used. A ton of thanks for it!!
It's gonna be my go to call if I ever locate a place to hunt turkeys this spring!

Shawn, if you're readin' this post, & get into that meadow again, would ya be so kind as to grab a couple o' them bones for me too?
All the ones I picked up I ended up puttin' into Tippit's game pocket!

LAR43, No wonder I was so tired after that hunt, carring all your bones too!  :)

Sneak preview of my St Judes Auction Knife that I just hardened.  Clint Walker (clintoper) was gracious enough to send me some osage scrap and one of his fish tail splices was included, so that will be the handle.  What could be more traditional than that!  Jeff

Hey Jeff,
You still have 'em! I picked up a few for myself then said what the hay. I'll give 'em to you. I don't do many straight blade knives.

After our conversation I've been lookin' over the bay for forges & such . . .
I'm gettin' itchy!!!   :)
Might be callin' you for some heatin'/hammerin' info soon!

Tom, I've just used 5160 & 1080 high carbon steel.  They both temper in the range of 375-400 F and quench in oil.  I've just kept it simple.  Jeremy said he was using some that quenches in a salt bath.  This blade started as 3"...Jeff

Larry, I brought that whole pile of bones home!  Call me any time, but your blade design knocks the socks off of mine.  I might have to copy one of those folders.

If you are looking for a forge & anvil, try to locate a horse farrier.  They seem to know where a lot of that used stuff is located.  Remember I'm just a 1st grade student of Doug's...Jeff

Jeff,
You oughta' have enough knife handles for the next 20 years! I'll send you an outline on a piece of masonite. That way you can keep it as a permanent pattern.

Gonna hit the yellow pages & look for local farriers.

Shawn, you started a tradition!

Dave....I just finished making Chuck a dozen custom arrows...I think I'll let him use these on that Moose hunt if you guys draw. This is probably a once in a lifetime for Chuck....So I'm pulling for you guys to draw.

Ha!!!!!!!!  I love the new tag line Joe!

Yeah, I think it would be awesome to draw a tag, I know it would be a fun hunt for sure.
