I was hunting behind my work with my buddy. We had been sitting there freezing our buts off, it was 20 degrees. WE had been there for about an hour and a half. We rattled numerous times and nothing came in. We were getting kind of discouraged, when i heard what i thought was some squirrels. He said what was that and i said probably those damn tree rats we saw earlier. Well low and behold it sure wasn't squirrels. Out walks a small buck i had already passed up twice. Only this time he was 12 yards in front of me. Well he walk throught the opening i had to see down a tree line and i got my bow up quick. He stood in front of the brush that was pilled up for my blind for a few seconds and i was getting excited. Finally he stepped right in front of my lane. I wanted to let him walk to my other lane so i could gather myself but i knew he would wind me, so without taking the time to make sure i had a good spot picked out the moment took me. I released the string i saw the arrow go in he bucked real hard and i watched it fly out and hit the ground. DAMN IT. I hit him right in front of the rear leg. So after he troted 30 yards, stopped and staired back for about a minute in wonder. He walk in to the woods like nothing had happened. So im sitting in my blind cursing my self( you know better than that, your an idiot, as i smack my self in the forehead with my bow. So i beat myself up fpr around 20 minutes. Was almost in tears. I felt so bad. I dont like to see an animal suffer. Now i had to try to track a gut shot deer. Well while we were sitting and waiting about 3 minutes after the shot we heard a small crash in the woods. Now i feel really bad the deer was hurt bad. Well after waiting a little while longer my buddy said lets go look for it. I asked him if he still wanted to sitand see if anything would come in for him. He said nope were gatting your deer. So i double checked with him> he refused again so we were off. We walked out of my natural ground blind, we found the arrow, but almost no blood. It was getting dark so we went to where he went into the woods. We started looking for blood there was one little drip. As soon as we both got one foot in the woods we watched a buck bolt trough the woods. DAMN IT TO HELL. Well there goes any cahnce of finding him. Well i went to the other side of the woods to see if i could push him out to my buddy so he might get a good shot on him and nothing. He said he saw a deer run to the other end of the field, stand for a minute and he was gone. We went to the place where the dear had ran to"no blood". So back to the original blood trail. By this time it was dark. We started tracking blood was few and far between . We actually had to scower the woods we kept stubbling on blood here and there but there wasn,t a good trail at all. I was at my wits end i wasn,t finding blood. We were possitive we saw him bust through the woods. I was ready to give up. Well my buddy foud some more blood and it started to trickle. We were walking(heres blood theres blood heres blood), i look up with my little light and there he is dead as a door nail. WOO HOO. The deer must have been quatering a way because the arrow went in in front of his hind quarter and exited out his lung. The crash we heard was him folding up. He only made it 70 yards. Well after we made sure he was dead i dropped to my knees and thanked GOD. Thank you so much for not allowing this dear to suffer. He sure is a pretty one. Do yourself a favor take your time pick your spot. HAPPY HUNTING YALL
