The "TARANTULA files" a small game head (pics)
« on: January 11, 2008, 07:06:00 PM »
Since this site is growing so fast and a great amount of new members join daily, now and again I repost about the Tarantula.

...first of all, I'm happy to say that I've being talking with the guys at 3Rivers, and they are looking in to see if it's a valuable, and possible head to be produced and distributed on a large scale.

I wanna make sure to make it clear that I'm not seeking monetary gains, I'll just be happy if the head would be accessable to everyone.

In the mean time you can always make it yourself really cheaply.

We all agree that a Judo is really good for stomp shooting, but not so good for hunting small game, they either run away with it or the head makes a real gory mess.

Now blunts, steal or rubber are much better for hunting small game, but if you miss the shot it's a good bet you'll lose your arrow (been there, done that       :bigsmyl:     )

A broad head is really good for small game to, but again the chances of losing an arrow are high.

Well the Tarantula incorporates all the 3 best qualities of the afore mentioned heads, plus is much cheaper, more easy on your wooden arrows, and backquiver plain indians quiver friendly.
...and belive me it stops much better than Judo in grass, I've being using it for almost 3 years now and never lost an arrow, and broken way fewer wooden shafts.

You can really match her to your broadheads weight by using different blunts or size 38's

You can easyly ad any kind of blade you like to it,...how deadly is that ?...knock them with a heavy blunt and put an inch of steel in them at the same time, let me know of a small game critter that can take that.

Ho forgot to mention, Magnus tipe blunts with steel blade are good to, but again, easy to lose.

Well, figured I'd post this in it's own thread, but I can't really see anywhere better to post it now than here...

Just one of the heads I'll be packing at the 2008 JLMBH. Figure a little "Manny Mojo" might get me a bunny this year...

Oh, and that's a Bear bleeder that I superglued in the tarantula. Figured I'd need it, since Shawn's bunnies seem pretty tough...

Northshore,

All you have to do now is get some screw in's made up, hmmm. 125gr maybe?

They'd be sold brother. Cool Idea. Did you make it yourself?

These are great heads, tough, easy to make in a couple minutes with a Bludgeon plastic blunt and a utility knife, real hard to lose, and deadly. When Manny invented these he had a naming contest. Tarantula won, but I still liked Hawaiian Punch better. Nice shooting on the pictured critters Manny.

Thanks Shaun, yeah Hawaiian punch was a close second

Bowspirit, that's cool, I'm glad you got one going.

stickandastring, they come out at about 90gr, should be pretty easy to ad 35gr to an alluminum shaft, like using the PDP'S

they come out at about 90gr
Not to mention, as Manny already stated, there's plenty of ways to add to it's weight. If you shoot screw-in heads, just slip 'em over a field tip to increase the weight...
