Nebraska hunt story
« on: October 12, 2008, 09:41:00 PM »
I had the privelege this past weekend of hunting with two good friends should have been four but the fourth had some important bussiness matters to attend to. Anyway we went to a new spot that none of us had ever been to we thought this weekend would be more of a scouting trip. We awoke at about 5:00am saturday morning decided to have breakfast then we would still hunt our way through the woods while we scouted. We spent the better part of the day doing that. When the evening came around we all headed out to our newfound locations! I seen four deer total 2 doe around 30yrds no shot then another at 18yrds shot and a miss DANG IT!! After that I thought I blew it but 10 minutes later a little doe walks 2yrds from me so I come to full draw loosen the arrow and WHAK!! I clipped the spine, it was laying 5yrds from where I shot it. I sat there shaking and watching my first trad kill struggle with her front legs trying to run so I nocked another arrow and put it directly through her heart! Both other guys saw deer that night but no shots. The next morning I was at camp cooking breakfast while the others were in the woods and I get a call from my friend Frank saying he shot a nice buck at 8yrds. This was his first deer ever! I was so exited I couldnt wait to go help track it. It went 70yrds from the stand!
Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.

Congrat's.  That'll give you something to smile about when the winter winds are blowing too hard to hunt.    :coffee:
