It finally came together (Pics)
« on: October 22, 2007, 09:22:00 PM »
Well i just got back from West Virginia for a weekend of bow hunting.  We left knowing we would be hunting in the rain but that didnt matter we just wanted to get oyt there and hunt. I get my stand set up in the dark fri morning and get up in it knowing i wont be seeing anything for a while cause of all the noise i just made. So ive been up there for about an hour and its day light now and some does and a spike come in and and eat some acorns but then the sky opens and pours so they bail out to go bed down.
Im up in the tree gettin wet for about three hours seeing nothing so i decide to sneak down and walk out the ridge jst to see what happens. Its perfect for sneak huntin cause its still raining and im slowly makin my way up one of our jeep trails when i see some shinning. I put up my binos and see a nice buck beded down right off the path facing the other way so i slip off my boots and my noisy rain gear and go into stalk mode, well he was about 100 yards away and it takes me an hour and a half to sneak into 15 yards, but i snapped a twig and he turned his head so i freeze and he stares for a minute then turns back around then i raise my bow and send my 125 magnus 2 blade right through the lungs he takes off down a very steep hill and dies in stride 100 yards away. I was PUMPED!

I have taken does before with my stick but never a buck, i have always passed on small bucks just because i have killed them when i was younger and i would rather just shoot a doe and let the bucks grow up, because i hunt 6000 private acres we all pass on them so we can have the bigs one and it seems to be working. But i thank all of you for helping me out and answering my questions...Curtis

Nicely done! Looks like you may have a new avatar there. I will be out there in a couple of weeks, this is what I needed to see!

Thank you everyone and as i said eariler thank you for helping me out and answering all my questions. and yes it is a kodiak magnum its 48 lbs. the shot was a complete pass through. and he is actually an 11 pointer (he has a backside kicker) this is the biggest buck i have ever killed and killing it with my recurve made it that much more special. My dad bought me that recurve for my 15 birthday (he is a compound shooter and knew virtually nothing about them expect i wanted one, he bought me books and instructional movies and helped as much as he could) anyway when i got it i shot it so much i threw my back out and couldnt shoot for two months.
