I had to work late last evening, but came home at dark and saw the skid up by the shop and Zach skinning out a buck.
My first thought was...who brought a deer over for us? It ended up that Zach (12 years old) was out back in the woods in a blind he built trying to shoot squirrels with his new bow he made (quad lam bamboo backed R/D 45#@28...at his draw he's pulling 30#'s). This buck walks up to feed on acorns right in front of him. He's got two arrows.
He takes a twenty yard shot and gets the artery right below the spine just behind the lungs. Buck goes twenty yards and falls backwards with Zach watching the whole thing! You can see in the pic the arrow that broke off laying on top of the buck...plenty of penetration.
