Well I got one today!
Went back for to the WMA here in Central Florida to give the monster buck I saw last Friday one more try before the end of Archery.
Climbed up in a pine that is in between two trails that I know the big buck uses ( lots of big rubs). Anyways I was up the tree and situated before daylight, turned on the Thermacell, and got ready for action.
For the first hour and a half it was all quite asides for some squirrels and nearby turkeys coming off the roost. There was no wind all morning and I started to wonder if I would see anything today. Well about 8:20 I heard a limb crack back behind me and turned slowly around but there was nothing stirring so I figured it was another squirrel cutting pine cones.
I had just looked back at my watch again and it was 8:30 on the dot and I slowly turned to the left to see back behind me again when I catch movement and see a deer coming my way down a pine row.
Next thing I see are a couple small horns but I had no time to study the deer anymore cause he was walking fast. He is now almost straight out to my left at about 20 yards and going behind a tree and that is when I went to full draw. He went through my first opening to fast to stop him but as soon as he came up to the next opening I mouth grunt and he stopped perfect broadside. As soon as he stop, I released and the arrow was on its way. But he either heard the arrow coming or the shot and did the little "duck" the arrow game and the arrow spined him and he dropped in his tracks.
2 minutes later he was out cold and I said a prayer and did a little jig in the stand.
He ain't no monster but the freezer is empty.
My bow is a Quinn Take-down Longhorn 50@28" with 2016 XX75's and 150 grain Wensel Woodsman broadheads.
