Trad camp 2007 BuckJam, Leota, michigan
« on: October 07, 2007, 04:20:00 PM »
Just got back from Trad camp with Leroy (goldenhawk) Jason, (whitebuffalo), Tim (TimFishell)and Drew (Drew) and myself (Jacobsladder)...We had a wonderful time. The weather was extremely warm for michigan october.. None of us shot a deer , but we had a couple extremly close encounters at eye level..We saw plenty of grouse, bear scat, rabbit, and enjoyed chasing porcupines at night.  The coyotes and the screech owls kept us entertained around the campfire. The highlight of the trip was getting to hang out with trad buddies and shooting the herd of bows that were brought up... We had a treadway, a kanati, a couple vortexs, a couple shrews, rer littleriver, and a northernmist baraga, a morrison, and a dwyer and a timberghost.... There was only 5 guys in camp...Basically 3 bows per person.I'll let the other fellows chime in and add the pics and extra fun details of the trip... You gotta love the "tradgang" ..and we are all a part of this great family.

What an awsome camping trip,,LOL,,Well the weather was Hot!! but we made the best of it.
Shot some nice bows,,seen my first porky,,shaved some qwuills off of two,,one in the morning on a walk with Tim,,

Tim spotted him in the tree,,I had just the arrow for him tipped with a bear green head,,He was about 50 feet up and just sitting on a limb like a squirell, I picked a spot drew anchored and let it go,, Tim thought I hit him from his angle but I seen that arrow pass right over his back touching his fur,,SOOO CLOSE,, on my first night there I heard the funniest sound in the woods right before dark,,thought it was deer but it had more of a draging shuffle to it,,nope,,porky dead in the two track,,I let one go at him and hit the dirt right in front of him,, loaded another cause they ain't quick by any means,, let another one go and seen it disapear into his quills,,Darn now he got down a drop into a ceadar swamp and started to climb a tree. I figured I had bothered him enough and let him be.
I was not one of the fellas to see game on stand except squirells, chipmunks, porky's, but I still had a great time in trad camp,,I have more to come with pics and all,,J

My little river on a walk with me one morning, turkeys talking, missed shots at squirells is all that came from that walk,, but I did get to see this,,

Great looking country country fellars! I think the weather is supposed to break this week with us Hoosiers seeing highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. It should cool off real nice for you.

It sure was great country Mike! I want to Thank Steve, Jason, Tim, Drew for including me in their hunt. Fantastic Times were had! So far this year I have been fortunate enough to share campfires with some really good folks. You can bet I'll be headin for Michigan again before the archery season is out to try and tag out and spend some more time with new friends.

THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is what a great weekend I had!!  The company was more than great and what a great group of guys to spend time in deer camp with.  The woods were HOTTTT but beautifully comming into color.  I have got to get to bed, it's back to work tomorrow but here are a few pics and some video to start the season off with....

Here are some pics of the woods and a view from the top of a nice look out hill

Here are some pics of our $10,000 tent!!!  :readit:    :archer:

And here is some nice video from a road hunting adventure with Leroy, Jason, and I
