First Day, First Trad Kill
« on: September 15, 2007, 06:38:00 PM »
I didn't expect to be hunting already with a longbow this year when I picked one up at the Wheeling, WV show in February... but these things are so addictive I put in more than enough practice since then.

This morning everything fell into place and I dropped a suburban doe with it on opening antlerless in PA.  Nearly a complete pass-through out of a 43lb Cari-bow... would have been cleanly if not for the off shoulder on the exit.

The gentle thump from a longbow... seems such a quiet and gracious way to harvest.  I shudder to think of picking up the compound.  No hunting success has been sweeter.  Truly magical.

Congrats that sounds like a great day to me. I was at the wheeling show to . It was great wasn't it. I also put in order in with Abe at cari-bow for a silver fox longbow. What kind of bow did you get from him? He makes some of the best bows out there. Beautiful deer. I hope I have those kind of results in 2 weeks when our season opens.
