Had a great weekend with my hunting partner Ken. AKA 'the fork horn'
Last year he was a tremendous help in my bear hunt and tagged along to video, then got hooked about 2 seconds after our first close encounter.
His first bear hunt this year. Lots of hard work and preparation finaly paid off this last Saturday.
The bear showed up at 4:30 and was tentative. Ken drew 3 times before they both got settled down
He made a perfect hit, tight to the shoulder as the bear reached forward. The bear stood up and "wheelied", then made a dead run of about 16 yards before expiring right behind his stand. The boar has an EXCELLENT coat, and Ken is getting a full shoulder mount done.
Congratulations Ken !
The specs are: 60" Kota Prarie Swift Recurve, dymandwood riser with bamboo limbs. 67@28. Ken shoots 32" 2419's at 30" with muzzy phantoms for a total weight of close to 700 grains.
Good times ! I'm heading back to see if our 'big bear' re-appears.....keeping fingers crossed...it's getting cold out there.
FYI - Ken is 6'3" and about 260, just to give you some perspective as to the bears size :D
