Bowhunting Downunder! Jay & Karen's pics on Pg.4
« on: July 08, 2007, 09:59:00 AM »
Just returned from another great hunt in Australia. Wish I wasn't so far behind at work - but here are a few pics.

   http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/Dsturgisjr/ChitalStag.jpg
This is a chital stag shot on a stalk at 7 yards. I was hunting at Bill Baker's Toomba in Queensland. I was guided by Grahm Cash, editor of Bowhunting Downunder Magazine.

This is the second water buffalo I shot at Tiwi Isands in the Northern Territory.

This was the first buff I shot. It was extra special because Don Thomas was right behind me taking pictures.

Going to Australia to hunt would put us all behind in our work Denny.   Are the Austrailian buffalo as nasty as the Cape?   Beautiful critters.

And...that looks like a Wilson Tab on your right fingers.

George, I've been around Cape buffalo, but have never hunted them. I would give both species the respect they deserve. Yes, that is the cordovan model tab.

side note: You don't need 90# to cleanly harvest a water buff.

Denny,

Congrats on a great hunt. Did you happen to run into Jay and Karen Campbell while there?

Don, Yes we did. Wish we could have visited more, but we took the had to fly back to Darwin on the same plane they chartered in. The hunting was awesome and I'm sure they are having a great time.

Denny,

It looks like the hunting was great. Did Brad cook up any of his tasty shore lunches with fresh-caught barra?

Rik, As you know from last year, the buffalo hunting is fantastic on Melville. Toomba is great too. Big, wild and plenty of chital and hogs. The bird life there is incredible also.

Brad did some great cooking in camp, but we never did the shore lunch thing. Probably because I'm not much of a fisherman.

So, what's the specs on the arrow used to slay such a beast?
