Jay and Karen Campbell are enroute back to New Mexico - e-mailing from San Francisco airport.

Karen took an 89" score buffalo with one 1020 grain arrow from a 70# longbow. Maybe the first woman to so so, but I'm not sure how one finds such things out. Great time with Don Thomas, guides Brad Kane and Dan Smith, and all of us sending cheers to Billy Baker, who is a bit under the weather, the owner of pacific Bowhunting safaris. Karen caught a few Barramundi as well, which made for a grand buffalo and barramundi dinner in camp. I did OK for an old guy.  :-) - Jay Campbell.

Awesome pics. I've seen you in TBM and some pics here on TG and now I see that you shot a 90# longbow on this hunt. Just one question, after the kill did you just grab that buff by one horn and drag him back to the truck?  :notworthy:

Thanks for sharing.

Karen, Congrats!  70# longbow is more than I've pulled...and to shoot it accurately!!!  We're not worthy, we're not worthy!!!!  :notworthy:

Wow, congratulations!  Just tonight I read a nice story in the latest Bowhunter about Karen's first bow kill on a hog in Florida.  The story ends with "...Karen had a hunter's heart".  Now she is killing big water buffs in Australia?  I'd say that last sentence in the story was pretty accurate.

Hope I can graduate to big water buffs someday!

Karen, who never hunted, picked up the longbow 3 years ago from a background as a concert pianist, 3rd degree black belt in shotokon, a glider pilot, and a medical database programmer. She became my partner and wife, and we run a medical consulting firm.

She shoots Adcock bows, as OL and Juli are friends of ours in NM, and the performance is outstanding. The dog ate one, so we're down to three right now. She used my 75# hummingbird Kingfisher as her back-up bow. I shot a 80# BW PLX.

Can't even describe how varied and exciting and difficult the opportunities were for stalks, but she and Guide Brad Kane put it together the second night.

Can't wait to go back. Those OZ boys needed a little feminine mystique in that bush camp. :-) - Jay Campbell

Great pics and stories guys and gals. Looks like everyone had a great time and memoriable hunts.

BTW I have tried stalking the Axis here in Texas and they are by far the toughest animal to stalk I have ever hunted. It is like they have a sixth sense or something. Spookiest deer I have had the pleasure to hunt. Still have not got one. Hope to this year.

Denny, Thanks for sharing with us. Always enjoy seeing pics. I'll bet the fellows & gals @ Black Widow will get over your painting the bows. Frank
