A Herter's recurve from my Parents, beautiful wood with the "Green Herter's Limbs" I remember it was 37# draw I really had lots of shooting time with that bow, my next Trad bow was about 35 years later a Leon Stewert Slammer, a definite step up in the World.

Earl Hoyt sold me a second fromhis shop in 1957 or 8. It was a all wood flat bow witha sliver of plastic arrow rest.  I had a terrible string follow lemmon wood bow before that.

Kodiak Mag 50#@28". Bought it from my Dad, sold it to him when I went in the sevice and bought back 4 years later. That fall killed my first deer with it. Put in the bowfishing service years ago and gave it to my daughter who still uses it for bowfishing.

I had a couple of pawn shop specials when I was a kid in the 80's...one I am pretty sure was a Pearson 20# recurve that I would give alot to have back for my kids, it was nice, clean, straight shooting bow.  Then I had a 35# recurve that I ended up destroying trying to make into a bowfishing rig.  After that I saved up and bought a 58" and 45#@28" Bear Black Bear Hunter.  That was the first new bow I ever bought.  I still have it and as a matter of fact, just had Bowdoc re-finish it.  I have some timber rattlers that need to go on and I plan to hunt with it some this fall.

My first "real" trad bow was a Bear Grizzly, 35#@28".  It would've been sometime in the early 70's.  I lost it along with everything else when our house burned down in '75.  I was in the 7th grade then.

My first actual hunting bow was a Martin Night Hawk 64" long and 55#@28"

I grew up shooting a non-descript, LH longbow right handed  :) .....but "MY" first bow was a 70's Bear Kodiak Mag 45#@28....Right handed, of course!

1965 Herters Perfection Sambar Hunter 62" 45@28  Inherited it when I was 12.  ;)  Still fun to shoot, love those big rosewood risers !

Heres my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th...the first was a York green glass bow. I got it for Easter when I was about 6 (I think 6). Not something I would advocate today, but the first arrow I ever shot out of it centered a robin in our back yard, which proceeded to flop and die in the middle of our Easter party taking place at the time..

A Stemmler 30# fiberglass bow, one cedar arrow and a cardboard quiver.  For a poor 12 yr. old kid I was in heaven.
