Crossbows Coming to New Jersey
« on: October 17, 2006, 09:31:00 PM »
NJ Bowhunter about to get into a huge fight.  Our FIsh and Game Council just voted to pursue the use of Crossbows in the 2008 season.

Our State Bowhunting Organization is looking for feed back from bowhunters.

The poll on their site will be use to help determine the path they will take and probably will go to our F&W to show the attidue of bowhunter on this issue.

And guys please  don't turn this into a pee-ing match.

We really need all the help we can get in New Jersey.

Check out the UBNJ and check out the poll.

Yeah I dont want to argue about crossbows again.I got nothing against them but feel they dont belong in archery seasons[unless the user is handicapped].Its all about making money for the game commisions and product mfg.

So everyone knows. This thread is here to inform you on a decision being made in NJ and a poll where you can help influence the decision which ever way you choose. It is not here to discuss the merits of or points against crossbows. In other words if it turns into a crossbow flame fest it's gone. So take advantage of the information and use it in a positive way and prove we were right in allowing it to stay.

You can list other resources and contacts to help the F&W in their decision process.

Jim,

Tell the NJ folks to look at Georgia. It was all hype here...how it was going to increase harvest, increase hunter days...Bass Pro worked hard to make it happen, saying it would recruit new hunters...man they were going to set the world on fire.

But, they didn't. It didnt recruit any new hunters...just gun hunters bought them to get in the woods for a few days before things started popping...they sold the fire out of them the first summer before opener...but they haven't really done much since.

Tell them to call Georgia Department of Natural Resources in Social Circle, GA to learn of the disappointing results.706-557-3597

May want to contact PBS for assistance.  We lost the crossbow fight in PA but the PBS provided some funding.
