New tactics from WHA?
« on: November 17, 2006, 01:31:00 PM »
I was clearing out my spam emails this evening and saw a name I recognised. David Farbman. Apparently, I'm on his newletter mailing list, although it's news to me. The email was asking for people to apply to be on his TV show. Am I correct in thinking that the initial idea was for professional hunters to take part, and now he has changed tactics to tempt the hunting public to be involved instead? He is offering big prizes, and they could be very tempting to some hunters that initially voted against this. I'm assuming that everyone of us that sent him an email has been put on his mailing list. This is just a heads up folks to show that this stupid idea isn't dead yet.

I have not received any email from him or his org.   I never even received responses from my letters sent over the summer regarding the WHA tranquilizer scenario.

Well, my answer to his idea is still no.

I saw his name pop up in some of the anti hunting material that was sent out prior to the last election.   We had a Dove hunting proposal come up here in MI (see other threads for more info)  His name was used to show what types of hunting "nutcases" supported the hunting of doves in the state.   Anyone serious about future of hunting needs to do anything they can to separate themselves from this man.

He needs to just go away. He does more harm than the anti's.

Sadly I really don't think he (Farbman) realizes how much damage he doing.

The antis are using him as an example of a "typical" hunter.   Nothing could be furthur from the truth.

I agree, his 15 minutes are up.

This is not hunting. It is a business adventure! It is also a business adventure that happens to involve animals and using hunting as a facade to make it successful. Never mind it will destroy the hunting it is using in name only to make it a success. Greed pure and simple. Be a success no matter who you hurt! Please do not support this even by accident. Choose actions and words careful. This type is slicker than OJ's lawyer Johnny Cockroach.

These clowns are now trying to get all sorts of people to apply to be on their show. This has nothing to do with getting people onto the show, it is all about getting content for the web site. The ad’s say to apply you must submit…
A casting call video, 5 minutes of you bullshitting about how great WHA is
A 1000 word article on the future of the hunting industry
A 300 word hunting tip
And finally, up to 10 photos of you with your best game trophies

When you read the rules for the contest you can see what they really want, a bunch of free website content.

“Any material submitted for the Contest may be used for any lawful purpose within
WHA’s sole discretion, including, but not limited to, purposes other than the Contest.”
And
“All Entrants agree that the WHA will obtain and be given sole ownership of all copyright
and all other intellectual property rights in and to all submitted materials. WHA will not
return any Contest submission, whether or not the submission is posted on the WHA
website or otherwise distributed.”

These guys are such ar$eholes

Wow, I just checked it out myself.  Unbelievable.  Perhaps we need to reiterate to these companies our disapproval of the WHA.     I fear that some of the companies that were with us in the beginning may be changing their minds now that the use of tranquilizers has been ditched.

Personally I still disapprove of their ways and their desire promote hunting as a big money competition.  I know I'm not the only one who feels  this way.      :banghead:

A lot of these banner placements are done by companies the advertisers hire. They place tha ads on sites that have potential customers for their clients and will get high volume of views. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Cabelas isn't even aware of the placement.

If I get a chance today I'll get a hold of them, holiday weeks can be tough though so it may not be until I get back from Ohio.

I think if Cabela's found out their stuff was on his site they would raise holy heck...you remember David they talked to me and contacted their vendors about NOT sponsoring or supporting this crap.

I bet you can go back through the WHA stuff and find the guy I spoke with in the Public Relations dept ro whatever it was and get in touch with him about it.

I just checked their site and found videos there that I couldn't watch at work.

I'm not against women in lingerie or anything but I sure don't see *any* connection to selling sex and "hunting" on the same website.

This is disturbing to say the least. Perhaps if Cabelas knew a little more about the content of the WHA site they would get that banner pulled pronto.
