World Hunting Association Sponsors
« on: November 29, 2006, 12:26:00 PM »
I saw some blurb on the WHA on espn.com outdoors. I guess they have actually conducted one of their "contests". I read that there were actually sponsors for this tragedy. I went to their website because I want to make sure I am doing nothing to encourage the existence of such garbage. I was shocked to see an advertisement by Dick's Sporting Goods on their website. I sent an email to Dicks to verify that they are a sponsor and am awaiting a reply. If they are in fact a sponsor that will significantly change some of my Christmas and future spending plans. I suggest other people make sure they are not inadvertently contributing to the demise of hunting as we know it.

Don't judge banner ads as sponsorship though. Those are placed by ad agencies. Sponsors tend to have a permanent ad link to a site. The WHA is playing fast and loose again. A week ago they had a Cabela's link. Polaris is one to watch as are a bunch of nonhunting related companies.

I'm the Editor of New York Bowhunters FULL DRAW magazine. I wrote to WHA to tell them that I was going to urge our members to BOYCOT thier sponsors.
Farbman called me and I coaxed him into sending me a copy of their first episode - complete with guys hanging stands in an enclosure with CIGUARS hanging from mouths. And he tries to pass this off as EDUCATIONAL. I'll be writing that Editorial.

I wish I could post the episode. It's REALLY BAD.
If I ran across it on TV I wouldn't watch it. Plenty of smack-talking, macho BS. Everything we want to distance ourselves from to improve our image.

And did I mention that they hung stands with ciguars.......

I can make copies...

Us aussies would like to see this show too. There is no chance it would ever be shown on TV (probably a good thing), could I get a copy of the show from one of you guys?

I wonder if Brad Farris (Primos), Bill Jordan (Realtree), Michael Waddell (Realtree) and Toxey Haas (Mossy Oak) know their pictures are on the front page of the WHA site.

I wouldn't believe a word of what comes out of the WHA PR office. They claim to be fair chase and yet they still claim on their website that the deer are to be hunted on “game ranches” in a “controlled environment”.

Is it not true that if they are running a competition involving the hunting of deer in the US they need to be on a game ranch? Isn’t it true that they would not be able to run those competitions on public land or target wild deer?

Not true at all so long as they followed state regulations in their hunts. I don't believe them either, just telling you what Farbman said in a phone call when asking for a break. LOL

It frustrates the heck out ouf me that he can continue on with the glory killing of big game with cheerleaders on the sidelines while at the same time, dove huting gets a solid veto.

I like the Primos and Realtree videos and products.   "Fair Chase" or not I can't support any one that suports the WHA and still be at peace with myself.

I'll be sending my letters to these sponsors letting them know of my disapproval of their support for the new WHA.

The WHA is doing casting calls. Did any of you get an e-mail asking you to try-out for the new format show?
