UPDATED 5/18/2007!!! TEXAS CROSSBOW BILL PETITION...
« on: April 06, 2007, 09:45:00 PM »
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Crossbow/index.html

Please follow the link above to help the Lone Star Bowhunters Association to oppose HB-1334 which will allow crossbows to be used during the Archery Season.

Many good men, like Bob Lee and Mike Palmer, fought to establish this season back in the '70s...please help us to preserve it today.

I feel this type of change may have a greater longterm affect on the traditional archery communities and businesses.

Do you have to be from Texas to sign?

Ted, I would think that if you bowhunt Texas you'd have a vested interest in the outcome of this Bill and could sign the petition.

You could further add the fact that the outcome in Texas will be used to support one side or the other during the decision making process in other States and you have a bigger right to sign.

The elected powers that be will certainly be more interested in their voter's signatures but I'm sure Texas Parks and Wildlife is interested in selling the non-resident license too.      ;)

I guess if you are a non-resident and wish to sign, you could do so but please disclose that you are a 'non-resident with an interest in this Bill' in the comments section of the petition so we can subtract those numbers and arrive at "resident total".

I signed.  Said I was a resident of Ohio and know the problems of letting every body and his brother use a crossbow in bow season!

Thanks a bunch for your support, Ted...sorry to hear of your experiences in Ohio.

To hear some folks talk about Ohio, allowing the crossbow into the archery season saved the Free World!  ;)

I added another signature. Hope this helps. Va has a crossbow season that slipped in under the radar of most hunters.  :(

Thanks again all for the support.

This Bill has passed the House (132-1-2) and is currently headed to the Senate...moving through pretty fast.

Sadly, many here in Texas simply don't seem to be concerned because Texas has so much private land...many seem to have an "I'll hunt how I want anyhow...it doesn't affect me!" attitude on this issue. Wait 'til they get a refresher course in how "supply & demand ecomonics" will affect lease/daylease prices when you through a few hundred thousand x-bowhunters into the mix.

Well, looks like we are gonna loose. We need to have the Texas Bowhunters in on this. Sad that this is gonna happen cause someone wants to make a few dollars namely the ATA. If this passes you can bet the archery only season is next cause the kill rates will go up and they will curtail the season.

Well, unless someone can influence the governor, we don't stand a chance. HB-1334 has passed the State House with a vote of 132-1. I hate to be pessimistic, but this is gonna be the biggest boo-boo in Texas hunting history.

Yep,and if they pass the bill to rewrite the animal cruelty laws adding wild animals to the bill then all hunting in Texas will be in jepordy. I just cannot believe my home state has come to this. If all this happens a lot of towns and people are gonna go broke.
