Sunday Bow Hunting Under Attack! (A1669, S802)

Sunday Bow Hunting Bill Under Attack!

From NJOUTDOORALLIANCE.ORG

UPDATE!

They are out to make sure that we lose.  They know how the system works.  They think we don't deserve it.  They're repulsed by the fact that we think we can ask for it.

They're not telling people the whole story.

It's more than an issue of principle - it's an effort to keep us in our place.  We've been pressed under their thumb for so long that they're willing now to even show that they can snap our scrawny necks.

They know that if we win this one more will follow and they will lose control over us.

Sierra Club, HSUS, NJNYTC have made this the hill they will die on... have you?

Assembly Bill A1669 (Senate Bill S802) Authorizes deer hunting with bow and arrow on Sundays.

It has come to our attention that the animal rights forces are pounding Trenton with phone calls to derail the Sunday Bow hunting bill A1669. If the animal rights activists stay true to their history many (if not most) of the calls are coming in from places other than New Jersey.

I am also hearing that our legislators are NOT hearing from the outdoor community.

It is important that we act immediately.

1. Please call the following assemblypersons immediately to request that they HEAR the bill and VOTE in FAVOR of bill A1669 (Sunday Bow Hunting.) These assemblypersons are on the committee charged with hearing/voting on the bill FIRST. Please contact them immediately.

Fisher, Douglas Chair (856) 455-1011 (Bridgeton),
Albano, Nelson - Vice-Chair (609) 465-0700 (Cape May Court House)
Amodeo, John F. (609) 677-8266
Conaway, Herb (856) 461-3997
Karrow, Marcia A. (908) 782-5127

2. Go to the following link and find YOUR individual assemblypersons. Call each of them and ask that they vote in FAVOR of bill A1669 - Sunday Bow Hunting.

Our success in having these bills passed is in our control if we make the calls and voice our wishes. Outdoorsmen/women far outnumber the antis. Let's make sure that our legislators understand this fact. Remind your legislator 67% of the people in New Jersey SUPPORT hunting. Remind your legislators that there are over 650,000 anglers, hunter and trappers in NJ - and we VOTE.

An update, if I may...

Still need folks to call their Assembly members and the members of the committee, but also need the following.

Immediate Action Needed - Sunday Bowhunting and Perimeter Rule

From NJOUTDOORALLIANCE.ORG

Assemblyman Alex DeCroce needs to hear from us. He is the Republican Leader in the assembly and a person in this position needs to hear from us that we want Sunday Bow hunting and also a 150' bow perimeter zone.

Please contact his office immediately. The antis probably understand his important position and have probably flooded him with phone calls.

Call him at 973-984-0922 or email him using the following link (calling is better than emailing, a handwritten letter is the best).

 http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/BIO.asp?Leg=81

Let him know that you support Bill A1669 (authorizes deer hunting with bow and arrow on Sundays) and Bill A595 (changes perimeter for bow and arrow hunting around occupied building).

Just saw this and made the appropiate calls.

New Jersey Legislation Allowing Sunday Bow Hunting Moves Forward
Senate bill moves to Assembly
11/11/08

At the end of October, the New Jersey Senate passed Senate Bill 802. The legislation authorizes Sunday deer hunting with a bow on private property and state run wildlife management areas. The bill now moves to the New Jersey Assembly for further action.

While the Senate cleared SB 802 by a solid 32-6 vote and was supported by key senators, a similar bill has languished in the state assembly for months without a vote. This raises questions about whether SB 802 will succeed in moving any further.

“Some sportsmen have been reluctant to support the bill due to it not including any provisions allowing the use of firearms. While the USSA would much prefer those provisions be included, sometimes, it is necessary to lay a foundation that can be built on for the future,” stated USSA Vice President for Government Affairs, Rob Sexton.

The USSA urges sportsmen in New Jersey to contact their assemblyperson and urge them to support SB 802. You can find your legislator by Clicking Here.

Thanks V13. I just saw the article. Good news for NJ if the bill makes it.
