Where's the ACLU when you need 'em?
This from today's WaPo:
"The Virginia Board of Game and Inland Fisheries has endorsed Sunday hunting in the state after years of maintaining a neutral stance on the issue.
State law currently bans Sunday hunting and repealing it would require the General Assembly’s approval.
The board approved a resolution this week following a public comment period in which a majority of comments made supported Sunday hunting.
The board says 47 states currently allow Sunday hunting."
When I Googled "Hunting on Sunday" I found an article from a Pennsylvania newspaper that explained who is against Sunday hunting in that state: The Farm Bureau and the good ol' Humane Society of the US.
In 2009 New Jersey passed a law allowing only bowhunting on Sunday. The reason that happened is because the proponents of the ban had to plead "peace and quiet" as their rationale because pleading "keeping the Christian Sabbath" (as if there is something sinful about hunting) would almost certainly be ruled unconstitutional, so somebody in New Jersey said, OK, well what about bowhunting?
Thar be opportunity right there.
BTW, I was trying to post when the thread got moved. I figured it might, so I found it easy enough.
