Gamegetter II / Legacy Arrows
«
on:
January 14, 2008, 09:36:00 PM »
Called a archery shop today Mom & Pop type (kind I like). Wanted to see if they had any of the old Gamegetters kick'n around. Struck out anyway but didn't hurt to ask.
Owner also informed me that the new Legacy shafts are now being made with the uni nock system.
Any reason why there getting away from the glue on nocks ?
Thanks
Mike

Actually I have been seeing both for a couple years now. I have both Gamegetter II and Legacy arrows in 2219 and believe they are some of the toughest shafts around. Can't use those uni nock, too tight. Maybe those tighter nocks are more popular for thinner fast flight strings.

Don't know why they're getting away from the glue-on nocks. About everything I've seen in GG II's have the uni-nock. As Bear Heart says, too tight on flemish strings. I've had to change the serving even on my fast flight strings. My favorite is the Legacy with glue on nock. Sweet combination for my fast flight setups.

I wonder if its less expensive to manufacture shafts for the uni-nock rather than swaging them down for the glue-on nock? That is, I assume they swage the nock end. I've never read how they make aluminum shafting.

Jerry,
I like the Legacy's too
Clint,
Probably right about being less expensive.

Well here in europe they just charge about four times the price of glue-on nocks for the easton nocks!
I do not think these nocks are one little bit better than my bohning classics.
If easton decides to put those great new nocks on their GG2 too, I'll switch to wood.
You won't see me paying 75cents for a tiny piece of plastic.
Not that I shoot my own nocks a lot...I just loose a lot of arrows

If you like the GG11, you should try the Easton 3D super nock for the uni-system. They are as close to a Merc nock with a slight click on the string. I use Dac Flem strings on my favorite bow, they work well!

Don't scare me like that. I contacted Easton about the Legacy shafts going to uni-nocks, and this is their reply.
Jim,
There has been no change to the Legacy Shaft for 2008. It still has a swaged end and conventional nock.
Please respond with any further questions.
Thanks

Jim,
I too contacted them today. I got the same answer you did. I don't know why the gentleman I spoke to told me that.
Sorry for the confusion, still swaged end and conventional nock

Ya'll check out Kustom King Archery. They sell an aluminum adapter that fits in arrows with the uni-nock that allows you to use standard nocks. Its called "Traditional Nock Inserts" and is on page 10 of their newest 2008 catalog.
