TJ, Congrats again on a great deer bud!

Your mount looks very good,I hope you don't mind that I offer some constructive critisizm(I've judged some pretty big taxidermy competitions).

The one thing that stands out to me is your taxidermists use of white paint around the eyes and nostril openings. Compare it to the hero shot, I think you'll see what I mean.....

Maybe you could ask him to take some of it off,for a more natural look.....

But overall you have a fine looking mount there bud, a memory of a great hunt that you'll have to look at forever!

Southern deer mounts are always show so much definition.  I guess there skin is thinner than there northern brothers, or maybe the hair is slicker.  Whatevever it is thats agood lookin mount.  Joe

TJ what a great buck to be taken with traditional gear, you should be very proud.  The mount is very nice and should serve as a great reminder

Guru, I noticed the same thing when I saw the photo's together.  If I am blessed with another worthy mounter I definitely will bring that up.  Don't get me wrong it looks nice but a little "Dolled up" for me.  I do think I would prefer a more natural look.

JoeM, I shot this buck Sept. 1st. He was in the transition stage from  summer to winter coat.  Our Kentucky deer do get thick coats but not until around November-January.  If you look close you can see remnants of his red summer coat.

Thanks guys I as you love these critters and bringing one home from the taxidermist is a joy.  I wish we could all have that feeling at least once every year.
