What is a good glue for string tip overlays?
« on: January 17, 2008, 08:51:00 AM »
I'm new to this but my first bow is coming along nicely.  I've used Urac on my backing and rise, it is difficult to mix a very small amount.  What would be a good alternate glue/epoxy for string tip overlays?  I think someone once mentioned 2 ton epoxy or simply titebond 2 or 3.

Loctite super glue gel. Blue squeeze bottle from Lowe's or wherever.

The 2 ton epoxy will work fine but I find it hard to feather because it pretty hard when cured. I like the thick super glue but I get the best results from smooth on.

I've never tried superglue on wood.  I am assuming from the replies that it bonds well to wood.
After my can of Urac is used up, I may try smooth on.  It would probably be easier to mix in a small amount as it is 2 equal parts.

I use gel super glue and 2ton epoxy but know others that use TBII and TBIII.   Pat

I used to use TB II or III, both do the job, but now I use Loctite superglue, so I can get back to work on the overlays in minutes
