Guys, I got this BBO, 66" and I'm shooting for 55lb at 27 -28in. I'm afraid I may have screwed it up!
At 6.75in. brace the right limb appears to be stiff, but it's only 1/4in less than the left side.  I'm afraid to go any further without help cuz I don't wanna miss my weight, and it already appears that I've messed up the tiller at draw. I'd say for sure that i got it bending way too much out of the fades.

These pics are taken at 25 in. draw at 55lbs. Where do I go from here? Sorry about the pics, but I can't back up any further in this tiny shop.

Yes, bending a bit much near the fades but doesn't look too bad.  Might want to take some off on the outer 1/3 of each limb.  Leave the last 6 inches stiff though. Are you measuring 1/4" positive tiller at the fades or mid limb? Do you have equal length limbs or same length?  Nice buck by the way:) Matt

The buck was taken by my grandfather almost 50 years ago!
1/4" positive just off the fades. Sure is gonna be a circular tiller on this one eh!
Equal length limbs.....I figure I may have to bring the right side limb into line with the left first and adjust from there? Maybe not...

Where's Wingnut when you need him!
Thanks mmgrode.

I'd remove wood from middle of right limb

Love your wallpaper border, its just so "outdoorsy".

Can you get a pic showing both limbs bent all the way out to the limb tips?

Right limb looks stiff outer 1/2 - 1/3rd.

I would use caution on asking for tillering suggestions from these photos... Its just imposible to judge... I sent you a pm which may help a little... Also... A good person to contact on the site would be Joe Don Jones... He goes by Horseapple.... He produces some awesome bows and a great guy... Later..
JHB

EASTERNARCHER

JAsonbker, I didn't recieve your PM.
Horseappple is it? I'll try to track him down...Thanks

I agree with JHB, get some pics showing the whole bow drawn by hand.  It looks OK to me in these pics but it's hard tellin'.

Well we're back from our Javie hunt.  See if you can get pic that are end to end so we can see the whole bow.  Don't draw it to full draw if you are not there with the weight.

So far it looks pretty good.  You want it to be about 3/16 positive when your done so your real close.

Thanks Mike....but don't you think the left limb is bending to much fade to midlimb? Guess I can't change that now anyhow...

I'll have new pics over the weekend....hope you had a great hunt for Javies!

Wendell,
You got one of them tillering gizmos made up to help you check the limbs? (approx. 7" long straight stick of wood will do) Heck you can use the edge of your scraper if you want. Just strive for an even gap between the limb and the tool, until you get out to the limb tips anyway.
Got wood? - Tom

EASTERNARCHER

Tom, yeah I use a block of wood for that....I just have this habit of focusing close to the inner limb and ignoring the midlimb to tip area sometimes....after studying this bow for a long time on several occassions, I've decided it ain't as bad as I feared.
Tweak the stiff limb mid to tip and I think I'll call it good. Right now, I'm at 3/16" positive tiller at the fades....Gotta shoot it in and then re-check it.

What I should do is make one of Eric's tiller Gizmo's, might save me some grief in the future...

OK guys/GAls, after 50 shots, this bow is holding 1/4" positive tiller.
In the braced pic, the left side is the upper limb. After initial sanding with 150 grit, she's pulling approx. 50 lbs at 26..5-27" draw.

Opinions? Should I work the right side limb or leave it be and finish her out?

ARCHER

Wendell,

When you sand the bow, go heavy on the lower limb and bring the positive down to 1/8 - 3/16.  That'll do it.

Looks great and should be a shooter for a long time.

Thanks Mike....I think it's due to a great bow glue-up too!
I'm glad to hear that I did it fairly close to right....just about wore out your DVD too BTW! LOL

Sweet job archer.  I may be PMing you allot when I start mine.
A bad day of hunting is still far better than a good day at work.

Here's how I see it.

Green means go.  Just a little tweak.  Overall, you should be good to go.
