More Primitive arrows.....

Its been awhile since I've seen any post for Primitive equipment so now that the hunting season is coming to an end, I find I have a bit more time to complete my list of arrows to build for some of my Tradgang bretheren.  This is the first one I've completed in my list, and it goes to FullQuiverII, who graciously donated some materials to build with.  To everyone else out there that has done so as well, I haven't forgotten about you so start looking for mail.   :D  

This one is made of Black Bamboo shaft, Mookite Jasper head, goose feathers tied with artificial sinew, a solid whitetail antler knock, and beautiful dark copperhead skins.

My second arrow was completed for a good friend of mine locally.  He's a local artisan who appreciated the first arrow so much, that I started doing one a year for him.  The arrows are done to commemorate his yearly gathering of friends.

SC rivercane, obsidian knapped head, wild turkey feathers, whitetail sinew hafting, whitetail antler footed with hardwood knock, and prairie rattler skins.

Two Hatchet, I haven't quite learned to do my own knapping yet, its on my list of things I "have" to learn.  For now I'll just buy or barter heads from some of the talented knappers out there.

snakewood, please post pics when you get them done, I'd like to see some of your work.

yes, flintknapping is some i should try myself. i've made a few primitive arrows myself. yours look great. keep up the good work, and post pics of any new ones you make.

George, I've yet to shoot one. As much time as I put into them I hope it would fly well, they wouldn't serve much of a purpose if they didn't.  I do a standing spin test on all of them to align the point and I get them as straight as could be, unfortunately most of these end up as displays.  If I ever get caught up I'd like to do up a matched 1/2 dozen.  Would be nice to get my first trad kill with one.

I was wondering,when you fletch do you wrap the fletch and then trim to shape after they're on the arrow,or before??

varmint,
when putting the feathers on I either strip them or split/grind them first, then cut them to the approximate length.  I don't shape them until they are on secured on the shaft.
