I added on to my house two years ago. The “Man Room” as it is now called, is 18 by 24 deep and has a single garage door in the front and a service door in the back which goes out to a 18 bt 12 roofed over patio. It also has a side door that joins it to the existing 2 car garage. The “Man Room” was initially intended ro be a deer processing and sausage making area as well as a 2nd kitchen for our house. I built the entire addition myself.
The “Man Room” features a natural gas furnace that heats both garages, an epoxy coated floor, A complete kitchen, A phone line, Cable TV and a hoist built into the ceiling for raising deer for butcher.
While I mainly use it for deer processing and sausage making with the help of my sons.

Right now, due to the CO the forge puts out I'm forgin' on the back of the patio.
The rest of the stuff is in my basement across from the washer/dryer.
My son's looking at building a smithy for me in the spring where I can put everything in the same place with doors & a roof vent big enough that I don't get killed by CO.
I'll try to get some pics tomorrow if I can the the #**%#!! camera workin'!

Continued........................
It is decorated in true “Man Room” fashion
When the processing and sausage making is done for the year, the “Man Room” turns into the project room for finishing knives. The dirty part of knife making takes place in the other garage where all the big tools are.
or making hunting gear like trees stands
Or other projects.
It is also an indoor archery range in the winter

RGK, That "Man Room" seems to do it all. Nice job of building. I certainly liked your birch handle build-a-long...Great Idea.

Here are some pictures of the shop I just finished this fall. Still not completely set up but workable. It has heat which has been nice the last couple weeks. (-27 degrees here last week)

I have posted this before. This is an older picture. I have a different band saw now.
Here is a newer view of the back of the shop. Mike droped by to learn a little bow making.
Todays picture that shows the way my shop stays most of the time. Just finished removing the bark and sapwood from a special short osage stave and working on my first gun build, a golden age flintlock.

I could look at other guy's shops all day, even messy ones
some of us are just plain anal about a neat shop. Functional, that's what counts.

Jeff, knife handles are one thing I do want to learn to do. I have tried a few, but there is much to learn yet. Sure would love to put ome wood on one of your beautiful blades sometime!
Frank, I picked that blade up at an auction last summer. I think I had to give something like $30 for it? They had two - probably should have taken them both.
