What do you guys who make saw blade knives cut the blanks with? I've been using a dremel and it takes a while to get one done.

I started out with the dremel & after 5 or 6 discs switched to a 4 1/2"grinder with a cutting disc. That worked a lot better.  My designs seem to change as I cut, can't seem to get two cut out the same but I'm getting better. Don

I still use the dremel and a lot of disks.  :D  I am using hardened steel blades and keeping them cool while cutting them.  If I used my angle grinder with a cutting wheel, I would not be able to keep the blade cool while cutting my profile.  When I get my forge built, that will no longer be an issue.  :bigsmyl:

I made a bracket with wood, mounted a Milwaukee portable bandsaw to the wall.  Added a metal platen (flat cutting surface). So it's a vertical metal cutting bandsaw on the wall.  Use bimetal blades, works like a dream.

I've heard from a guy on here that the new dremel discs work alot better.  The EZ Lock discs.  Said he used to have the same problem you having and now only goes threw one disc with these improved discs.

I've tried a couple of different things:  dremel with regular disks and a diamond cutting disk, drilling the shape and then on the belt sander.  The drilling and sanding is faster, thinking about getting a hand held grinder with cut off disks.  I'm using annealed 1095 steel barstock.

Kinda still in the "see what works best for me" phase.
