Special Bowie.
« on: February 25, 2008, 01:43:00 PM »
Last summer i sent off my drawings of a knife to another trad gang member from Iowa. He makes some very nice knifes and sent me one early as a gift. I commissioned him this time and he did a awesome job. The knife blade is 16" long over all 22" The handle is made from a old Native burial platform post (Osage or hedge) gave to him for me by a Native. And the blade from a chainsaw bar. I made the shealth but hope someday soon to send it to Carbon Caster so he can make me a special shealth for it.

Thats a great knife!  I love the idea of using materials that have historical or other significance to make somthing that is to be used.  Very rewarding and meaningfull.  Did you heat treat the bar or use it as is?

A real old exclamation comes to mind for some reason, Mr. Vic -  "Huba-Huba!!" but then, at my age I get my responses to knives, bows, and Ladies blurred a little   :D   (Love it!)

You bet i do bro. The people down home sees it on my belt in town and they never seem to bother me. Can't figure out why? But it serves me well. I love my knifes.  How about showing these fine knife makers some of your craft on here? I will be waiting to see you this year down at the river......
