damascus/desert ironwood
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:40:00 AM »
Here is a knife that I recently finished, and am proud of it.  I don't do any forging, I made this from a billet I bought, then cut/ground.
Desert ironwood handle looks good on damascus, I think.  It is scary sharp too.
Thanks, Dan

I have a Damascus and Desert Ironwood and that Ironwood will eat up some sandpaper trying to shape won't it??Tough as nails.

Did you make the sheath too??Very nice also!!

VERY Nice Dan!!  Ironwood is my absolute favorite wood.  My Black Widow is ironwood.
What kind, make, style etc. grinder do you use for the bevel.  Do you hollow grind or flat grind?

Thanks for the compliments, I am very pleased with this knife and sheath.
Leftie, I use a Wilton Square Wheel grinder, the hollow grind is done with an 8 inch wheel.  Other attachments for other grinds.  I can flat grind also but find myself hollow grinding most of the time.
