Playing with my new grinder
« on: April 02, 2008, 11:22:00 AM »
I've just got a proper knifegrinder    :clapper:   & need to get in a litte practice with my plunge lines. I've never been able to do them on my little 1" belt, due to the tracking being stupid & not being able to center on my platen.

Anyway, this is my first ever attempt at a plunge! Also my first 'Bushcraft' knife.
The blade is 4mm 01 with a sabre grind & a secondary micro-bevel. OAL is 8" with a 4-1/8" blade. The handle is Pau Rosa with 1/4" hollow pins.....

clean, simple, elegant- just what a knife should be, Rob. I like the grind on the blade.

Looks great to me! So what "proper" grinder did you get?

Thanks folks!   :notworthy:

I won't be putting this particular model on my website but, as always, I can build anything anyone wants (within reason!)
If I were to sell this one, I'd have to price it at See Sponsor's Classifieds  ;)

Here's m' new toy. It's a home-built job, made by a guy by the name of Aly from the British Blades foum. It's running a 1.5hp motor & is 3-speed adjustable at 750, 1500 & 3000 rpm. It wears a 2" x 48" belt & towers over it's predecessor  :D .....

The only thing it doesn't have is access to the larger contact wheel (only 5" anyway) but I'm working on a curved platen with a 20" diameter profile, for hollow grinding.
